VGC ’12 Worlds Prizes Announced

Alright, so you’re going to be going for the title of Pokémon World Champion next month, but what do you get aside from fame and glory? Well, The Pokémon Company International’s just revealed that! The top 8 finishers – likely all of top cut – will receive prizes with the bulk of the good stuff being given to the top two finishers. This is in addition to select players having their teams immortalized in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.

1st Place

  • A Pokémon World Champion Trophy
  • An invitation to the 2013 World Championships
  • A Travel Award for the winner (and parent or legal guardian for players considered a minor) to the 2013 World Championships
  • A scholarship award worth $3,500
  • Exclusive Pokémon World Championships merchandise

2nd Place

  • A Pokémon World Championships Second Place Trophy
  • An invitation to the 2013 World Championships
  • A Travel Award for the winner (and parent or legal guardian for players considered a minor) to the 2013 World Championships
  • A scholarship award worth $1,500
  • Exclusive Pokémon World Championships merchandise

3rd Place

  • A Pokémon World Championships Third Place Trophy
  • Exclusive Pokémon World Championships merchandise

4th Place

  • A Pokémon World Championships Fourth Place Trophy
  • Exclusive Pokémon World Championships merchandise

5th to 8th Place

  • Exclusive Pokémon World Championships merchandise

As you can see, the first place winner no longer receives a free trip to their choice of Tokyo, New York, or Hawaii. Instead he or she will receive a $3,500 scholarship with the second place winner receiveing $1,500. Maybe they thought Ray had been to Japan enough times now?
