Time Limit Increased to 20 Minutes for Fall Regionals (Updated)

The Pokémon Company International is just keeping the good news coming with regards to format changes this season! After hearing our cries, a top cut was added to this season’s regionals. Now, it seems they’ve heard our qualms with the time limit as well and upped it to 20 minutes per game. Although not on the official website at this time, we have confirmed that this will be the case at the upcoming fall regionals next month. This applies to the Swiss rounds as well as Top Cut, meaning those best of 3 Top Cut games will be 20 minutes maximum each and maxing each Top Cut round out at an hour. We’re sure with the amount of games that just barely escaped being decided by time last season, this is a welcome change by all.

Thanks to Team Cook, organizing the Texas Regional, for bringing this to our attention and helping us confirm!

Update

Earlier we mistakenly reported that the timer had also been increased to 90 seconds per turn. We’ve just heard back that this is not the case and it will stay at 60 seconds per turn. You will still have 90 seconds to make your Pokémon selections at the beginning of the match.
