Let me know if you’re one of those people in Top 16.

    I’m in Top 16 <.<

  2. sableyemagma says:

I dropped early and I still got top 64 in Seniors/Juniors

  3. Thowra says:

lol Garchomp is still no. 1 usage >.<

Interesting to see that the metagame has settled somewhat, all top 12 Pokemon are pretty much the same as from season 3 specials.

Btw, what format are people using now to practise for VGC? I tried going on the doubles ladder and all I encountered were Latios/Terrakion/Heatran combos >: ( The one VGC legal team I came across turned out to be just an in-game team. Free doubles is even worse, 90% in-game teams which doesn’t help…:(

  4. Will the rank for exclusively juniors be posted? I’m curious to see how my son did compared to other juniors. On global link it shows his ranking amongst all 2,600 players. I’m pretty sure that number is both juniors and seniors.

I don’t think there will be be for global rank. However, I think there might be a regional listing when CP is handed out.

I know this was asked above but nobody answered…

But how does one claim the Enigma Berry for participating in the competition?

They haven’t said. I don’t think we can get it yet.

hey does anyone know how to get the europe ranking as a whole on pgl it seems u can only do countries

You can’t. You need to manually count all the European players above you to find your rank in Europe.

  5. BluHairFrk says:

I ended up at 1725 which got me 66th in the US and 272nd in the world. I played all 60 of my matches and could have gotten a higher ranking if I had stopped earlier, I peaked somewhere in the 1760’s. But i’m not going to Nats or Worlds so I don’t care about CP. I just wanted to get in as many battles as possible since the VGC ladder is gone.

I am happy with my results, especially considering that I was in the high 3000’s in the last Black and White 2 wifi tourney that I participated in. It’s crazy what being able to get tournament quality pokemon without having to RNG will do for your records :D

  6. NidoRich says:

Even though I only played 43 (30W-13L) I’m happy with being 181 in the World and 7th in the UK, I know I could have got a higher score if i continued with my battles but I just didn’t want to risk lowering my score. The main thing is I can improve my team even further for the UK nationals :D Well done to everyone who did well or just had fun playing

1935, not impressive, but eh it’s not dead last.

Lol, I guess you misstyped your rating here. Not even the first place had that much.

As for my rating, I seemingl got disqualified for about 5-10 (?) unintentional disconnects, where most were on my part and even lost me some games or were at team preview screen. Welp, I didn’t go for the CP anyway, so it’s useless to be salty, but I would have liked to see my rating. I peaked at a rating of 1789 after about 45 matches, but got greedy and dropped to a final rating between 1720-30, which would still be top 3 in my country.
Still, I learned a lot from this and hope to have a final rating next time, looking forward to it. Next step: Beat Hibiki to become Austria’s #1!

Also congrats to all who placed high enough to gain CP. Hope that it matters for worlds invites eventually (or not for those who might miss a spot just by that many points).

i think he means thats what his placing was.

Got 1627 points placing 1,367 in world and 53 in Italy. 29W/21L, bidoof bad ratio. I’m really unsatisfied with the results, but I still believe the fault was all on my part. I’m pretty sure I can and will do better in Nationals.

A friend of mine arrived 137th in world and 8th in Italy. He’s having a pretty good season this year, I hope he will do so also in nationals.

    Congrats!
I got 17W/18L which is worse, but for a starting point I have the satisfaction of nearly breaking equal. If I continued more at the rate I was going I’d probably pull upwards. Made it to 1512 points making me up in the top 40% of worlds which (considering participation) was nice.

A LOT of my early mistakes costed me entire games. I’m pleased to say I’ve stopped making most of them.
Mission accomplished for a trial by fire! Being used to Smogon format and never competing in an official style VGC (or VGC at all) I did as to be expected. Less than I wanted, but not completely trash.

  12. Blecco says:

Don’t worry, I actually did the same if not worse at my first VGC tourney. I was using a team weak to steel in a Metagross full Meta, not the smarterst tool in the shed.

I realized I did most of my errors during the second part of my tourney -late second day/early third day-. Mostly because I got upset at errors and small, totally manageble, hax. I clearly have to work on my temper and concentration more than feeling with the team. I’m starting to know how to counter things with my main core. Still having some problems when I have to switch in different leads. Raichu-Reuniclus is a pretty solid one, but changing the latter for Amoongus scare is problematic when they bring it in the back. I should probably avoid doing so.

  13. dasdasdas says:

Is there any report yet? I thought we could see the players party after the championship.

  14. koosbane says:

First vgc tournament I’ve ever competed in, finished #625 in USA and #2328 overall. Bummed a bit because of two things, didn’t get but about 30 matches in and I started the first day over 1600 rating. Looking forward to the next one.

If they set the privacy settings in their profile to disallow views then they would have to give out the info themselves, or someone recording the battle video(s) and evaluating them for spreads.
I tried looking at the top people, but all were set to disallow views for the most part. I have mine open to PGL users simply because a) I want to show friends what I used, B) I don’t mind scouting so far since GL doesnt release the teams until the competition is over, and c) I’m likely to change my team between tourneys.

@Blecco Yea that was me this weekend. Looking back only a couple battles were distasteful on hax (both sides. I won but it was because Hammer Arm from MegaKang missed my MegaTtar twice in a row and would have probably KOd me resulting in my loss eventually). I made plenty of mistakes, got outplayed completely a few times (which looking back was pretty neat since I think they were NB people).
I picked it up enough at the middle-end time to know that with more practice I can improve.

My record goes mostly losses at first, then a winning streak. Then a losing streak, a winning streak, a smaller losing streak, and more wins.
I wish we could see more than just the Pokemon in the battle box. I know scouting is abused and poor sportsman-like, but I’m just curious about those battles where I got dominated from the word go. Even in a 6V4 mock battle I had no chance of survival against the AI since those spreads were just wicked.

I may try to use that battle video decryption thing from projectpokemon to see sets though since I saved those battles. I’ll only get 4/6 of the team though.

Oh snap, gotta cook up something good for the June challenge then.

  17. Desuzakiddo says:

I was >1800, next I’ ve got 7 lost connection and i didn’t top concluding the tournament 167 in swiss 🙁

  18. Desuzakiddo says:

    I’ve finished with 41/19

  19. Pokester says:

I got 87th in my division (Juniors/Seniors), definitely not bad at all for my first attempt. Well done to everybody that played. :)

Nice! Another Amoongus-Tyranitar core. I really enjoyed it personally.
My team is in more detail in my RMT topic. I’ve already switched a few things up and have gotten more success. I may go into rated doubles again but with a notepad so I can record my actual VGC team VS VGC team (and not the me flailing against national dex things).

I understand setting the privacy to prevent scouting, but with the VS Seeker program making it so anyone can get full spreads and everyone for 4/6. Honestly if people REALLY wanted to, they could just as easily scout you so I think it’s a bit pointless to not disclose the team. GL even removes the items, moves, and abilities and never shows the EV spreads.

    Back on topic:
Grats on the top 16 guys! I enjoyed seeing NB people getting high scores, and even seeing someone from the USA place high in worlds!

  22. Mikewando says:

I ended with a score of 1730 after going 31-12, which I guess makes me ~69th in NA (58 above me in US, 7 in Canada, 2 in Mexico) so I guess that means I get CP? Anyone know when this is awarded or what the CP awards are for each rank? I only have like 15 CP and don’t plan on attending nationals so it’s purely for curiosity at this point.

I obviously didn’t have time to play all of my matches and didn’t actually get a chance to start until day 2 where I had an incredibly frustrating start full of disconnects. The next day was a lot better connection-wise (read I never disconnected) but unfortunately I ended up mostly against very low ranked players (even after breaking 1700 I was still matched with players below 1500). I did end up playing Lajo 3 times though, which was not who I would have picked to play 3 times since his team is a pretty tough matchup for me, and I ended up going 1-2 there.

1730 also isn’t where I peaked, but towards the end I was just trying to finish matches as quickly as possible to try and grind through; in hindsight this obviously wasn’t the best strategy and I should have just quit at the 1760ish I peaked at and accepted that I wasn’t going to get close to 60 matches.

  23. Reinier says:

    I got 4th…
In the Netherlands, where only 92 people participated and only 5 people managed to get a score over 1600.

The top 12 most used pokemon are kind of what I expected. Garchomp is just so solid, 102 base speed combined with its bulk makes it one of the easiest pokemon to use. Talonflame being #2 is a bit strange imho, considering the best thing it can do is set up tailwind and die. Both Rotom forms are really good, but now that sun is less common there are less reasons  to use Rotom-H. Strong water & rock attacks are also more common than strong grass attacks. I kind of expected Meowstic up there in the top 12, i really saw a lot of them.

  24. Werford says:

Finished at 1702, good for 470th worldwide and 100th in the US. I’m pretty happy with my performance given the year I’ve had, and hopefully I can do even better in June.

  25. jucaa says:

Finished with 1707! 413 worldwide and 2nd in Brazil.
For someone that started playing VGC one month ago, i did very well =)
Really hope that Nintendo bring VGC championships to Brazil next year

  26. Crawdaunt says:

Finished at 1723 for 281st in the World, 8th in Canada and that would put me in ~68th in the US. I’m guessing I got T128 NA CP? There’re three people above that in Mexico, so that’s… 80th in NA?

I’m pretty pleased with that performance overall! I shot myself in the foot in a couple games on the last day, but finished the day with a bit of a win streak. I never got the chance to finish all my matches before time ran out, but who knows what would have happened. That all said, my minimal goal entering this thing was to make T128 in NA, and I accomplished that so I’m pretty pleased! Next WiFi tourney I’ll be aiming for T64 :D I don’t have the experience nor do I put in as much time as I’m sure a lot of the top players do, but I’ve been hoping to change that over the course of this season so that next year I can become a real contender. I’ve put one foot forward towards accomplishing that goal, and that’s pretty satisfying :)

Congrats to everyone who made the Top 16 in their Region, and everyone else who just bubbled out! I… admittedly don’t even know what’s special about Top 16 vs. Top 32 in terms of CP payout.

  27. melevin9 says:

According to the data ive gathered there were 4 smeargle teams in the top 10 – AZ if you’re reading this then theres ban it

  28. kingdjk says:

Finished up with a 1762 in the juniors/seniors division, giving me 10th in the US and 36th overall. Definitely happy with that considering this is my first VGC season and this is my first major Wi-Fi Competition.
Overall, I had a lot of fun finishing 42-18. I had really solid battles all around, with a surprising lack of game-changing hax(Except for two battles…). As usual, I saw a ridiculous amount of Kangaskhan and Rotom(especially heat). It wasn’t too bad though.
Quick question though, has anyone received their CP yet? I haven’t, but I’ve had trouble with my player ID in the past so I would not be surprised if it’s just me. Just wondering if I should contact customer service yet.

  29. CP has not been awarded yet. Neither has the Enigma Berry.

  30. EmbC says:

Does this mean that, if I got 50th in Europe, I’ll get 2 CP??!!?
If so, I’m so happy with my first CP ever :D
