I loved Ashton Cox’s team! Gigalith + Sawk = <3
i'd love to read a report
It’s ironic that the best counter for an annoying bird is probably an equally-annoying cat.
A Glaceon in the second Day of a National in the US!! That guy it’s my new hero
OMFG I SEEN THAT SMACK DOWN GIGALITH ON PS AND WAS ASTOUNDED!!!
Loved that gigalith !
I agree with many above posts. I watched quite a few matches on twitch, but when I saw Ashton’s team, I let out an audible WTF. I love using strange team ideas when I battle friends and over wifi, so I’m glad to see an unorthodox team make a big splash.
Based on http://nuggetbridge.com/news/results-vgc-14-spring-regionals/, and my personal experience of battling him at Nationals, Austin Bastida-Ramos is Syncie.
Hi, I’m Jacob Hartenbower. I placed 45th on day 2 at nationals. I brought Medicham, Glaceon, Crobat, Chandelure, Nidoking, and Yanmega. I brought this team because Glaceon is my favorite pokemon, and I saw an opportunity to use icy wind on it considering how rare the move is in this format. I had a blast meeting other players and playing all day. My team did really well on day 1, and It had great surprise factor. Unfortunately, I had very little experience in both playing and building for best of 3. I learned a lot about playing more conservatively in day 2, and as always, I met a lot of really cool people.
Nice to see Zapdos in top teams!!! . Also nice to see Talonflame still in the game, I thought I was paranoid about it while writing my report, but it’s not the case. I’ll be looking forward for the videos and the reports as I couldn’t watch the stream!!!.
What’s with the influx of Hydreigon lately? Can someone clarify for me?
Counters the Rotoms and Aegislash and is just ridiculously powerful
This:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 156-186 (93.4 – 111.3%) — 62.5% chance to OHKO
versus
252 SpA Salamence Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 80-96 (47.9 – 57.4%) — 44.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Salamence Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 132-156 (79 – 93.4%) — guaranteed 2HKO
Not to mention:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Kangaskhan: 178-210 (98.3 – 116%) — 87.5% chance to OHKO
That is me man. I am actually Deadsouls, but I didn’t want to make a new email for an account on here.
…*swaps out Salamence for Hydreigon immediately*
I destroyed Meowstic with Staraptor. However, that was day one. I choked on day 2.
Could someone please tell me where I could watch these matches? I missed out on the entire thing
It’s so awesome to see the teams of the people that I didn’t get to face! Thanks for putting this together.

In case anyone’s curious, each mons record at nats sorted by wins above average.
Zapdos too good
Going by those stats, Talonflame had a pretty strong showing.
Both of the Rotom, however, had win ratios of <50%. If I’m reading this right, most of Rotom’s “popular mons” buddies had >50% ratios, usually solidly above it. I think Rotom’s still good but man, I never thought I would see Talonflame do notably better than Rotom.
I’m Jason Ihekona (32nd)
Had a great time playing against some of the best players in the nation, and giving Drapion that 2.17%!
