Notes: Data is currently out of 82 teams listed rather than out of all 88 teams. Two Pokemon are missing from this data: the Rotom who’s forme we were unsure of and one other mystery Pokemon who somehow fell through the cracks. Since it’s a little hard to see with the way the table is presented, 72 different Pokemon were used in a Winter Regional Masters Top Cut match. The Virginia teams are included with the teams from the four Regionals listed on this page in this data.
Rastacharmander used Kangaskhan, Noivern, Talonflame, Garchomp, Malamar, and Lucario.
Daniel Claus used Azumarill, Scrafty, Talonflame, Gengar, Tyranitar, and Rotom-w
That’s all know from top cut.
2 Semi Final showings for linkyoshimario. With an extremely different team that works that’s real inspiring to see.
My Team: Aegislash, Garchomp, Kangaskhan, Rotom Heat, Gyarados, and Hydregion
So…should I be annoyed or joyful my team is unknown XD
Threw the tallies here, in case anyone’s interested in the raw numbers. I was a little surprised to see Talonflame was used even more than Kangaskhan.
i’ll add the usual stats table to the article in a bit, waiting for the initial rush of extra info since the table always gets screwed up when other people update it
adding the mentioned teams atm
My team was Manectric/Kangaskhan/Rotom-W/Mamoswine/Garchomp/Talonflame
Hey I am Bridger Snow (16th in SoCal) and I didn’t have a Rotom-W, it should be a Rhydon instead. Thank you.
1. Who gave my team? Snitches get stitches
2. *Andrew Kennett played Gyarados/Noivern/Charizard/Venusaur/Salamence/Mienshao in socal
Everything up to this point should be updated, let me know if I missed something I shouldn’t have.
Also let us know if we misspelled your name here — I noticed a couple typographical errors I tried to correct, but I doubt I got all of them since I don’t know how some of these names are supposed to be spelled to begin with.
Anthony Jimenez 10th place in Long Beach Cali is DarkAssassin and Riley Factura 20th place in Long Beach Cali is Gengarboi
Just a minor fix. In StL there should be a Trevenant instead of Talonflame in that 5th slot for my team.
Oh man Guys I loved playing so much 😀 … Anyways My team consited of: The Lovely Roserade, Manetric, Azumarill, Scrafty, Tyranitar and Delphox C:
Joseph Darby (JoseSucio) :]
Should be updated again. I’ll add stats table tomorrow afternoon since it shouldn’t need to be adjusted too many more times. At 80/88 teams so far (counting Virginia), 72 different Pokemon represented so far.
Missouri top cut should be in the order in this article: http://nuggetbridge.com/news/results-apex-2014-vgc-14-winter-regionals/
Oregon
8. Sean Webb – Aegislash/Scizor/Noivern/Meowstic/Aerodactyl/Talonflame
Florida
10. Michael Shaw – Salamence/Garchomp/Scizor/Kangaskhan/Rotom-W/Talonflame
what’s the item of heracross in the team of len deuel (alaka) and tyler hagan (tyler)? 🙂
It’s always great to see some updated tournament usage statistics, thanks guys!
Gosh, this took awhile! Thanks for posting Gavin!
Should be updated again, added usage table.
I believe they both used Choice Scarf.
Yeah, we probably waited too long trying to get the last few teams without just posting and letting it happen that way.
Shoutouts to Articuno in t16
MrFookie used a Tyranitar, Garchomp, Mawile, Meowstic, Rotom-W, and Salamence at Long Beach Regs.
Good to see I’m not the only Articuno user out there! *salutes*
I figured that there would be more Hydreigon. I am really interested to see how usage evolves between now and the first VGC tournament I am planning on playing. I am very excited to play and see how things turn out.
It is really great to see how these teams look at tournament time. Helps newer players understand team dynamics.

The “Big Six” still reigns supreme. Apart from the ones that don’t, look, every single team contains Talonflame, Rotom-W, Garchomp, Salamence, whatever the other one is… people are so unoriginal these days.
Until someone with some form of imagination wins a regional with for example FEAR Rattata, a rare and esoteric strategic choice taught only in ninja dojos such as the one I attend daily, I quit Pokémon. I mean, apart from the majority of games in which he admittedly lost, someone went undefeated at a regional using Dunsparce, and you just ignore him? Why don’t you idolise this guy over that chucklehead Ray Rizzo? He just uses the exact same team everyone uses on Showdown. Plus, he can’t even prove he’s the real Ray Rizzo. Somebody could quite easily have just made an account called Ray and said they’re him.
In all seriousness though, great stats! Though there’s not much in sample size, it’s fun seeing how different teams are in the US, UK and Japan. Like the US doesn’t seem as fond of Aegislash as everywhere else, and the Japanese guys really love Gardevoir, which I’m totally not going to correlate with the alleged popularity of virtual girlfriends.
Brian Jens had Kangaskhan / Talonflame / Rotom-W / Garchomp / Tyranitar / Bisharp
Yup. Used Choice Scarf with Guts.
<–Justin Biller, in case people want that added to the VGC teams. I could drop more info on the team if people are curious, though I dunno if I even have the EV spreads for them anymore. Busy tearing it apart and building a new one.
I was the only person who had Slowking? Grimer, now I feel compelled to keep him (even though he didn’t do much for me).
Hey you’re missing my team from FL regionals (eighth place)
I used Garchomp / Tyranitar / Rotom-w / Scrafty / Gengar / Aegislash
