0PFruit wins Fifth Nugget Bridge Live Tournament
This Saturday, sixteen challengers showed up to compete in the fifth Live Tournament held in preparation for the Worlds Last Chance Qualifier and hosted by Cassie. Like the Worlds Last Chance Qualifier, this tournament was held in the single elimination, best 2-of-3 format using standard VGC 2012 rules. At the end of a grueling day of Pokémon, PFruit walked away with the title of Champion.
PFruit’s path the championship
PFruit’s path to the championship brought him up against some of the top trainers in the field, starting with a dominant 2-0 victory over NatGeo. PFruit proceeded to dispatch with the rest of the competition with similar ease, defeating Drifloon in the second round and FonicFrog (Sixonesix) in third, though not before FonicFrog took a match off him. In the finals, PFruit faced a strong challenger in the form of Juniors sensation Babbytron, who clawed his way to the finals after three tough matches, each of which came down to a third game. Still, PFruit defeated Babbytron in two games and managed to walk away with the crown in the last tournament before the Worlds Last Chance Qualifier.
Thanks to all who participated in the fifth live tournament, and congratulations to Champion PFruit! We’ll see you back next week for a smaller live tournament than usual, running concurrently with the World Video Game Championships’ Swiss rounds for those of us not lucky enough to be spending the weekend in Kona, HI, hosted by Cypher and another chance to knock PFruit off of the championship throne! Until then, keep checking our Online Tournaments Forum for more chances to compete against the best of the best.
