Winter Regional Cloyster Distribution and Spring Regional Byes

Over the past week, the Pokémon website has updated with a few small nuggets of information about the upcoming regional tournaments. First off is something players will be very happy to hear about: the return of event Pokémon! Not only that, the event Pokémon will be modeled after actual players’ Pokémon! For the Winter Regionals, we’ll have a Level 30 Cloyster available to us with the same moveset, nature, ability, and item as Abram Burrows’ World Championship team member. For reference, this was:

cloyster
Cloyster @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Skill Link
IVs: 31 HP / 31 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SAtk / 31 SDef / 31 Spd
Naughty Nature (+Atk, – SDef)
– Icicle Spear
– Rock Blast
– Hidden Power [Grass]
– Razor Shell

Thanks to Kaphotics for the help figuring out Cloyster’s IVs. These will likely be locked so we don’t get a random Hidden Power. You can pick up  this very competitively viable Cloyster to fit into future teams when you attend a regional this weekend at one of the following cities:

If this is successful, we may see more Pokémon from Championship teams for the Spring Regionals and Nationals! Toler’s Ludicolo for the next regional and Ray’s Cresselia or Metagross for Nationals perhaps?

Additionally, the page for the Spring Regionals was updated and has revealed that only those with 85 CP or more will receive a bye. This is a large increase over the 4 CP required for the Winter Regionals, so look out! You’ll need to do well in more than just WiFi tournaments if you want a leg up on the competition at the final regional of the season. The Spring Regional locations are:

Good luck this weekend folks and don’t forget to wear your Nugget Bridge t-shirts to strike fear into the hearts of your opponents while looking incredibly attractive!
