Teams from the 2014 Pokémon World Championships
The metagame has evolved significantly over the course of the season as you can probably tell from Scott’s retrospective, so what did we see at the season’s ultimate event? The World Championships is where the best players from across the world pull out all the stops and here’s what they used. Special thanks to Gavin and everyone else who contributed data for this article.

And to think that Rotom-W was the most popular forme at the beginning of the season. Glad the little Microwave Oven got to shine. On another note though, I was expecting more Kanga’s. lol

That strange feeling when I’m neither the higest placing Smeargle, nor the higest placing Blastoise at Worlds.

Wow that’s a lot of Moltres. I know Scott used a defensive Bold one but how did the worlds competitors use theirs? I only really ask because I caught a 5IV one but I’ve found zero use for it.
I also like how everyone tried to hard counter the meta, but instead what we end up with is setting where stuff like Gothitelle became staples. Worlds meta is a beautiful thing.

Porengan (Nemanja Sandic, 10th) used Talonflame instead of Salamence.

Yosuke’s last three were Salamence, Aegislash and Talonflame.

I actually had a Rotom-H over Goodra.
Cruel irony #58 about my Worlds experience: being forced to run a boring standard team for the first time.
