5th Generation Wonder Card: An RNG Guide

So you’ve just downloaded your Wonder Card, and you want your exclusive event Pokémon not just as a part of your collection but also as a supreme fighter? This guide will help you reaching your goal. Before you begin, read 4th and 5th Generation RNG Calibration guide and RNG Dictionary. Once you’ve found your parameters in RNG Reporter, you will be ready to try Wonder Card abuse!

Prerequisites:

  • RNG Reporter
  • Pokémon Black or Pokémon White game
  • A pair of Chatot with Chatter and a custom record on the move
  • Your DS’s parameters

Finding a Seed:

  • Open your RNG Reporter and choose the 5th Generation Time Finder.

  • In the Time Finder window choose Wondercard as your method. The GLAN (Gender Locked, Any Nature) Wondercard method is for Pokémon that have their gender set to male only or female only despite the fact that the Pokémon can normally be either male or female, for example Movie Hydreigon for the Japanese Pokémon Black Version. GLAN Wondercards work exactly the same as regular ones. If you aren’t sure if your chosen Pokémon is GLAN or not, you can ask for confirmation on our forums.

  • Set your Min/Max Advances to 0/150 and pick a year and a month you want to search for your Pokémon (note that your Pokémon’s receive date will be the same as Wondercard’s receive date, not the actual date indicated by your seed).

  • Set your IVs and Nature. If you are interested in multiple Natures, you can choose more than one.

  • Finally, hit Generate and wait until Time Finder gets you some results.

The Time Finder Progress window will pop out and and the search will begin. If you’re OK with the number and/or quality of Seeds you get, you can hit Cancel before Time Finder finishes it’s search.

  • We’re almost there. Next, you’ll need to select a Seed. Left-click on a Seed to highlight it then right-click and choose Copy Seed to Clipboard. Optionally, if you don’t want to RNG yet or you want to re-abuse your Seed, choose Output to TXT to copy the Seeds to .txt file.

  • Go back to RNG Reporter’s main window, choose the Wondercard (5th Gen) method, paste the Seed, then hit Calculate Initial PID frame and hit Generate. A list of frames and corresponding spreads will show up. The first screen shows Starting Frame before calculating initial PID frame, the second screen shows my actual starting frame.

  • As you can see, unlike other 5th Gen RNG methods, when using Wonder Card abuse Nature and IVs are connected with each other. That means that each frame has it’s unique spread as opposed to Capture, for example, where all frames have the same IVs.
  • The last thing to do before we move to the game itself is to calculate the number of advancements. In Time Finder, next to Seed column there’s Frame column indicating what’s your target frame. To calculate the number of advances use simple formula:

Target Frame – Initial Frame – 1 = Advances Needed

  • Taking to the delivery man advances 1 frame, that’s why you need to substract 1 in the equation. For my seed, for example, it’s 124 advances (176 – 51 -1).

In-game preparations:

  • Have a party of at least two Chatot with a custom recording on their move Chatter. If, you don’t have a custom recording, record something.
  • If you’re using White, go to the Pokémon League’s PokéCenter (no NPCs). If you’re using Black, in addition to the League’s PC you can use Black City’s PokéCenter as well.
  • In Black2 and White2 there are no moving NPCs in PokéCenters in Castelia City, Nimbasa City and Mistralton City. I recommend you RNG in Nimbasa because you can check your IVs easily with the help of Judge in Battle Subway.
  • Stand in front of the Delivery Man (the guy next to the exit; he’s wearing blue clothes and a blue baseball hat).
  • Save your game and turn off your DS.

Time to get your desired Pokémon !

  • Turn your DS on, go to date setup and input the date indicated by your Seed (you can find it in Time Finder). Repeat the process for time.
  • If you’re using DS Phat/Lite, hit A one second before your target second, and immediately afterwards press and hold all keypresses required to hit your Seed (find those in Time Finder). You must hold the buttons until the star animation begins.
  • Proceed to the game menu and start your game. C-Gear must be off.
  • Press X, open the Pokémon menu and open Chatot’s Summary. Each time you open Chatot’s Summary, the frame advances by one. You can just put two Chatot next to each other and perform Chatot flips to advance the frames.
  • When you’ve done all advances required, talk to the Delivery Man and get your Pokémon.
  • In BW: fly to Nimbasa and visit the Judge in the Battle Subway to check your Pokémon’s IVs. If you wanted specific Hidden Power, you can visit the Hidden Power Specialist in Mistralton’s PokéCenter.
  • In BW2: visit the Judge in the Battle Subway (you’re already in Nimbasa City). If you wanted a specific Hidden Power, you can visit the Hidden Power Specialist outside the Pokémon World Tournament.
  • If you hit your seed correctly, well done! Enjoy your Pokémon! If not, turn off your DS and repeat the process.

Rookie RNGers may have problems with hitting their seeds correctly. Don’t worry if you’ve missed your seed, just try again. Remember, you can always ask for help and advice on our forums. Patience is the key  for success. Good luck!
