14Stream Archive from the VGC ’14 Washington Regional
Unfortunately without the ability to save battle videos during live competitions we’ve been seeing far fewer battles archived from Regionals. However, much like in the fall, we were able to stream a Regional Championship this weekend and have quite a few battles between some amazing players (with quite the teams) for you today!

Thanks for this Firestorm! I’ve been looking around for battles of one of the Regionals.
Machampion=Enigine?
Here’s the playlist I created for Kansas City. No commentary, cuz I don’t know anything about the VGC, was on Staff, and simply didn’t have the time. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2BQSE8KuWnbOHvl3jD8D5kaXxiMUSHMi
Curious, for Washington what was the criteria for being picked for streaming?
No idea as I wasn’t on stream either. Would have loved to commentate if my ride did not have to go.
Sprocket – from what Thomas (PBB) told me, it was more so them picking out matches they know have some history between the players or how well someone’s been doing. For instance Mike (OmegaDoughnut), however donut is spelt, vs Gavin (kingofmars) for the last round of swiss with both undefeated records leading up to that match. Or Gavin and Randy (R_Inanimate) for their latest battle in what seems to be a series of fights just this past week, with the major and the event. I think that was a better option in picking out matches over random, due to them being more entertaining and interesting to watch.
I had to pick people I knew that I could trust with my capture card because I had to leave it unattended to play.
Fair enough for both Eric and Huy, bout what I was expecting too.
We also sort of just pull x-0 x-1 matches based on names we recognize. If we don’t know what your real name is, there’s not really a good chance we’ll pull you. (So let us know your name)
^Kind of messed up. I like seeing people I know from their past wins,etc..but try to show others who have good records but are unknown. Gives them a chance to make a name as well.
That doesn’t work though it sounds cool in theory. Everyone has a good record at the beginning so we’ll grab people paired up together that we recognize as being up to a certain standard of play. As we get closer to the end (like at 6-0), it’s easier to grab people that may be unknown but doing well as it’s a pretty good chance they’re good as well and we will do that if we’ve featured the known players already (after all, people usually want to see them play). In this case, everyone left at 7-0 was a known player. In top cut we featured whatever looked like the best game for the round based on the history of the players while trying not to repeat the same player two times in a row.
Additionally, though it’s in the rules that nobody can refuse to be streamed, we don’t want to pressure people needlessly if they’re not comfortable streaming at a Regional.
Just wondering why isn’t it allowed to save battle replays during Regionals?
No one knows exactly but it may have to do with the ability to do mock battles.
Awesome. I’ll check these out later tonight.
