2013 Global Showdown and Pokémon Global Link Transition to X & Y

We’d like to remind everyone that the final WiFi tournament of the 5th Generation, the 2013 Global Showdown, has registration open for just another day or so. It doesn’t count for Championship Points and will be following an alternate format so it should be a relaxing way of finishing off the generation in a low pressure tournament! Even if you aren’t too interested, we recommend playing in the five necessary games to qualify for the rankings so you can participate in the first ever Pokémon X & Y WiFi tournament. Definitely the most interesting participation prize given out so far in these events.

Additionally, the Pokémon Global Link for the 5th Generation games will be completely shut down on January 14th, 2014. From October 1st to October 12th, 2013, it will be in extended maintenance. Between those points they will be slowly shutting down services as they transfer to supporting the 6th Generation exclusively. Make sure that you’ve done everything you need with your 5th Generation game cards to transition over yourself!

Check out the official pages for the 2013 Global Showdown and Pokémon Global Link transition for more information.

i ranked 12438 at 1306 points. i little dissapointed but i wont let it get me down. im sure i can bounce back from this.

  2. DaWoblefet says:

12,397th place at 1311th points. Just what I was aiming for; plenty of forfeits to ensure me being on the rankings. I’m also glad they cracked down on “illegal Pokemon” that apparently a “large number of players” were using. I guess that’s why they took so long in getting the results up.

  3. mattj says:

1199th lol. It was a ton of fun but Jirachi seriously disappointed. I think I got one measley flinch out of gob knows how many Iron Heads and Zen Headbuts. :/

  4. plaid says:

    Sejun is god.

  5. pball0010 says:

Team Whimsicott: 1665th place (tied for 1654th with 16 people)

See y’all at the test competition! ooooWOP!

  6. Surprised I didn’t get DQ’d due to all the connection errors I got; 166th place is good enough for a friendly, especially since I didn’t have an Arceus. Wish we had more wifi friendlies to tide us over until October but I guess the Global Link staff are probably working overtime to get things ready for the X/Y launch.

Roar being relatively popular on Groudon/Dialga is kinda shocking in a 3v3 format.

    some battles from sejun

Since (in total) only 4/6 were used in those 3 battles, here’s a External which shows the other two (Zekrom and Deoxys).

With the recent announcement on the Global Link site about disqualifications for using hacked pokemon (External External External) (around 10% of each bracket was removed), it’s pretty sad that the top ranked player used hacks and wasn’t eliminated for using them.

Was nice having a tournament with ubers, Girafarig too strong!

  8. FroZen85 says:

I’m a bit gutted by this but by the looks of things I have been disqualified from the rankings. I’m gonna say through D/C’s rather than hacks because I don’t hack, but nor do I D/C  :(

No X and Y tour for me and no explanation! Darn it!

bidoof you all, why are you ranked worse than I?? 11426th only. :(

Well, I think the hack check excuse is mostly bogus, since it doesn’t make sense that they would be intending to be strict about this in a fun tournament rather than one that awards CP. If they really did something other than the automated hack check, then it was probably like remove illegal balls or something.

  10. Die2Distroy says:

I wonder who came last? There is normally atleast one that loses every match on purpose just to see how low of a score they get.

I faced a 900 in ranking day 2 of the tournament. I screwed with him by forfeiting at the same time as him so neither of us lost :D

  12. atlas says:

just people who forfeit a lot. since i was close to bottoming out i checked to see how far off i was, the biggest loser was sub 300,

    That takes some serious balls.

No need to call people out in front of the entire community, This was a tournament for fun. If you have such an issue with it why don’t you take it up with sejun instead of slandering him on the forums.

  15. CFire says:

Ranked at 11,373 with 1380 points. I’m trying not to feel too bad considering how many ubers I went up against with a non-uber team.

  16. GreySong says:

Girafarig was too strong to be placed in the rankings. T_T

  17. PreyingShark says:

Today it was announced that if you were DQ’d or didn’t participate there will be sign-ups later to give you a chance at getting in. Those of us who placed are set so we don’t need to worry about it.

  20. mattj says:

preying shark posted a link to the source in the xy pre release thread but for some reason the forums aren’t letting my c/p a link it just disappears when I post

    what the heck
