lol why is this even an argument, just accept that it’s part of the game now and move on

and honestly how the yams does pokemon adding a “fairy-type” make the game more embarrassing to play??? you think kids are gonna go “OH LOL YOU PLAY POKEMON AND IN POKEMON THERE IS A FAIRY TYPE WHICH IS GIRLY AND CUTE SO THAT MAKES YOU GIRLY AND CUTE LOL????”

yams man i didn’t think people could actually get upset over a new god bidoof type

  2. Aren142 says:

All we need now is why Fairy would be Weak to Steel, why Fire and Psychic would resist Fairy Attacks, why Fairy would be immune to Dragon (if it is), why Fairy would damage Dark and Fighting for Super Effective Damage (these 2 I’m on the edge about since Fairy Wind from Gardevoir did 1/2 to Hydreigon, then again, depends on Base Power) and what Fairy resists and why.

I can at least shed some light on the weakness to Steel. (I’m going off English type name here, don’t know if it’s different in Japan) Steel is an alloy with the key component being Iron. And Iron is bad for fairies. I’ll just rip straight from Wikipedia here: “Much of the folklore about fairies revolves around protection from their malice, by such means as cold iron (iron is like poison to fairies, and they will not go near it)”

Also, noting mention of “their malice”. The traditional sense of fairies would not see them as a representation of good, hence why the idea of having it as a Light type instead would be nonsense.

  3. feathers says:

fairy would be weak to steel because the most common fairy ward in folklore is cold iron, with fire being a close second. most common example is hanging an iron horse shoe above a door in ye olden days.

not sure about the others but i will look into the other rumors. it would be nice if we had more clarity about fairy but speculation is fun.

You know what, I don’t give a Grimer about this thread anymore. Feathers and Seasickness, read my status update because I already explained myself there. Cybertron is right, it’s now part of the game, so there’s no use complaining about it any longer. I rest my case.

  5. atlas says:

if you want to know why fairy type is weak to poison and steel you should watch fern gully.

in fact, screw this topic entirely, just go watch fern gully.

  6. araluen7 says:

Feathers should change her name to Fairies

  7. Nickscor says:

justinftw started this on twitter yesterday, so #GarbodorForFairyType2013 .

You know what, I don’t give a Grimer about this thread anymore, but im still going to post to tell you i dont give a grimer about this thread anymore. I rest my case.

All good man, you’re right it’s already being called fairy so Yous has to deals with it.

Man I wish they’d release the actual weaknesses/resists for the thang already.

  9. pball0010 says:

Well, since I’m going to be catching FAIRIES!!! now, I figured I’d get into character. Hence my new profile pic.

    FAIRIES!!!

  10. PK Gaming says:

Let the good times roll ♪

(Watch Fairy-type overtake Dragon-types as the most dominant type in the game)

  11. cobalte says:

I don’t really understand the ‘girly’ argument. Pokemon is mainly marketed towards boys in the West (or at least here), wouldn’t it be a good thing they’re trying to reel in girls that might be interested too?

  12. Fatum says:

It’s in no way marketed towards us, I feel it’s more like the opposite, with every generation having some cheesy dance/fashion/whatever thing and way too many new “cute mons” (most notably legendary ones only receivable per event) and stuff, and this new petting feature goes well along with it (but I’m still much looking forward to caressing my adorable Tyranitars, Hydreigons and what have you, they deserve some love as well :3). It’s just that boys and men happen to be a lot more attracted to gaming than girls and women. I believe Pokémon and other Nintendo games should be exactly the “hardcore games” (to exclude that insanely multitudinous karaoke stuff and whatever else there is) that come the closest to an even gender distribution among the players.

On the “oh noez, Pokémon now has a faireh type, people who don’t know Grimer of the game will ridicule me a new one for it!!!!!!!”: total nonsense, man. How should people who don’t care for Pokémon at all know about a Fairy type without “having known about it forever”? Like, people who have ever watched the TV show in its early stages, they should very well remember Edding Perish Song Jigglypuff, one of the most annoying characters ever created that also happens to be cute. A Fairy type that actually used to be not there adds nothing noteworthy to that atrocity, haha.

/edit: Lol, I don’t get what’s effeminate about the region being based on Europe/France…

  13. Mr Rock says:

    Wait a minute:

    • There’s a new type called “Fairy”
    • The region has a European theme
    • There’s a new mode to pet your Pokemon

It’s official: Nintendo’s experimenting, they want to see how effeminate they can make Pokemon before us grown men decide to stop playing.

Okay so I hope everybody realizes this post wasn’t serious, yes?

  14. LilWhiteRice says:

In order to make this fair, poison type has to be super-effective to fairy since it’s only super-effective to grass so far
