Nugget Bridge Pokémon Showdown Server Open

The NHL was supposed to return today and give a gift similar to the NBA last year. Unfortunately, we still have no hockey so we here at Nugget Bridge decided we needed to step up to the task instead! Today, we’re happy to announce that we have a server up and running on the Pokémon Showdown simulator so that you can practice your matches in the most advanced simulator to date!

You can access our server at any time either from the Pokémon Showdown homepage or by bookmarking the Nugget Bridge server specifically. Currently we have ladders set up for the current Modified format, Challenge Cup, and Christmas Cup.

Special thanks to Pokémon Showdown creator Guangcong L. (Zarel) for helping my technically inept self set things up over the past few weeks!

Shortcuts for Showdown

I’ve seen a few people comment about how they wished Showdown could be its own client. If you’re on a Mac,  the best way of doing this is with Fluid which can turn any web app into a desktop app for free. If you pay $4.99 for a full license, you can even tell your Showdown app to keep its cookies separate from the rest of the browser so you won’t lose your teams when you clear cookies!

If you’re on Windows (or don’t want to use Fluid), I’d recommend going to the server on Google Chrome and clicking Options > Tools > Create Application Shortcut which will allow you to add Showdown as an application to your desktop, start menu, or even toolbar. If your browser crashes, you can still keep Showdown open.

Firefox users can also go to the server and right click the tab to “Pin as App Tab” which will create a small tab that always starts when you launch the browser. This is useful if you don’t want another window for Showdown but also want to keep it separate from your other tabs.
