Pokémon X and Pokémon Y coming to Nintendo 3DS in October 2013

In the first Nintendo Direct of the year, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata unveiled the sixth generation Pokémon titles — Pokémon X and Pokémon Y — exclusively available on the Nintendo 3DS in October 2013 worldwide. That’s right folks! The next games in the series will be released simultaneously in North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan. There’s a good chance that this will be the only game you’ll be able to use starting with the Winter 2014 Regionals.

The new titles in the franchise will be fully 3D and cel-shaded. There are new starters, new Pokémon, and amazing new battle animations. Check out the trailer above and the screens below! You’ll notice the game looks set in a very European landscape – especially reminiscent of France. 2014 World Championships in Europe perhaps?
