Results from the Pokémon 2013 United Kingdom National Championships

The final European National Championship of the 2013 season is sure to go down in history. With 364 Masters, it was possibly the largest video game National since the beginning of the Video Game Championships. 104 Seniors also rounded out the event ensuring both groups got a Top 16 cut. As the final live event of the European circuit, a lot was on the line and some of the game’s best were present to earn some Championship Points. Once the dust settles, we’ll have a full Championship Point update so players can see how much June’s International Challenge will play a part in their invite.

Additionally, some information was released during the competition that may change the game for those chasing that 2013 Pokémon World Championships invitation. We’re still waiting to see something published on the web, but some or all of the following may be done:

  • Top 8 Masters at the UK National Championships will receive a travel award to Worlds
  • Top 32 Masters in Europe ranked by Championship Points will receive an invitation to Worlds

We’ll need to wait for an official statement from The Pokémon Company International on this news. What doesn’t change is who the Top 16 were from this tournament:

Congrats to everybody who made top 16 (and even those who didn’t). It’s awesome to see so many Nuggetbridgers in top cut.

Are the Senior results gonna be posted? I just wanna see my name here on the Top 16 :D

I don’t have anywhere near enough information to do Seniors results right now unfortunately. If you and other Seniors could help me fill in the blanks here, that would be good. I made a External based off the Top 16 Billa sent me. I just need to know who won 4 of the Top 16 matches and 1 of the Top 8 matches. The rest I know because Alex and Edward are in Top 2. The picture was a little blurry so some of the names might be misspelled. Please correct me on those too.

  6. Plusle says:

    Seniors

    Benjamin M, Henry S, Rizapaser E and Morgan H win in t16
Edward T (me), Henry S and Alex B win in t8
Edward T and Alex B win in t4
    I win in the final

  7. Firestorm says:

Awesome thanks! Updated the article. And if anyone is listed but we don’t have a username attached, just let us know who you are. Congratulations again to everyone who got a trip and see you all in Vancouver!

  8. woopahking says:

    Brandon I = Toquill

    Henry S = Poofighter2013
    Reece T = ChicoMono
    Rizapaser E = Eric19999 I think
    Mark M = woopahking123

  11. Ben91293 says:

Can’t believe I went out so close to top 4… Still, a brilliant event for us Britains in general!

  12. Mean says:

    Top 4:
    Kyriakou vs Kotx  Kyriakou wins
    Flash vs Osirus  Flash wins

    Top 2
    Kyriakou vs Flash   Kyriakou wins

    You’re wrong, Kyriakou’s top4 opponent was Albert.B (Arbol Deku)

  13. OmegaDonut says:

My opponent wasn’t Juan S either, it was Uxie.

  14. NidoRich says:

    It was:
    Zog vs Koryo
    Flash vs Lolnub
    Deku vs Sol

    That should clear things up

  15. Josh says:

My mistake, that was from what I could remember and who I was able to recognise. At least most of the details are there.

  16. Calm Lava says:

So i guess it’s possible to get a paid trip and still NOT get an invite to play in worlds?

  17. Mean says:

yes, Bham’s top8 have a paid trip but potentially not an invite.

  18. sewadle says:

Uxie played OmegaDonut in T16 not Koryo/lolnub/sol64, and he’s registrated here as “Lega”

  19. Baz Anderson says:

I don’t think it is going to be possible for 110 CP to be outside of top 32 – so I would say that everyone with a flight has a place secured.

  20. Mean says:

Oh i forgot about the top32 thing lol.

  21. Baz Anderson says:

Haha yes, I am going to end the season with more CP than some people who won a flight – so it’s a good job for them I suppose.

  22. Firestorm says:

The only people who can get a free trip but miss the invite are players who get Top 4 at US Nationals but currently have less than 40 or so CP.

  23. kingofmars says:

The only people who can get a free trip but miss the invite are players who get Top 4 at US Nationals but currently have less than 40 or so CP.

Actually, you need 111 prior cp to guarantee a worlds invite if you get top 4 at nats

  24. He’s referring to the case where it’s likely they will miss the invite. While technically someone with 110 CP can get screwed, it’s not that big a problem since it’s so unlikely to happen. Third or fourth not being enough to get someone with less than 40 CP into the worlds is a big problem since it’s not that unlikely. There are a few players who have a chance to pull it off.

  25. AlphaZealot says:

If you haven’t seen it: http://bit.ly/123mW4H

  26. Josh says:

Pretty much a juniors and seniors montage but still very cool. Ben’s celebration at the end was top notch

  27. woopahking says:

    Where am I…

Was there one of these for the other Nats?

  28. Firestorm says:

The video was made by External, a UK-based games site, so I doubt that they made one for any of the other Nationals. The UK Nationals looks like it was the best advertised of any Nationals. Hope the media in North America do what the UK games media did.

  29. 13Yoshi37 says:

    German Nationals vid

  30. Flash says:

I wonder why they dont make an special video for each age division paired with an article. Official recordongs would be nice too. They did something like that in 2011 iirc. An article for each division and every finals in the dedicated page pokemonvgc.com

This kind of things are not that expensive and give the competition a more serious aproach. They do that for lol with lolesports.
