2013 Spring Friendly
If you’re tired after the competitive nature of the 2013 Spring Regionals and International Challenge in April, you’ll be glad to hear that the next event will feature a significantly more relaxed experience! With no Championship Points up for grabs, the 2013 Spring Friendly is a singles tournament featuring only Unova Pokémon and no banlist aside from that. That’s right, from the looks of things, you can use that Meloetta you picked up recently! Remember that unlike the Doubles format we play a majority of the time, the Singles format only allows 3 of your 6 Pokémon to be used!
Registration goes from May 9th to May 16th with the actual tournament taking place from May 17th to 20th.

Tornadus T was a sleeper in this tourney. Way awesome monster that kept my tempo up.
Kyurem W sweeps are hilarious. That guy is a truck.
Genesect is ferocious.
Choice band Terrakion is strong.
Keldeo was fun to use. Did a HP Ghost Life Orb set so I wouldn’t have a rough time with Jellicent.
you can check your place in ranking from your my-page now.(cannot check the ranking yet)

74W-5L-Rating1911, 16th place with Tyrantiar, Landorus-T, Excadrill, Keldio, Kyurem-W, Metagross

Not too bad considering I haven’t played singles in ages and the fact I didn’t get to play on the last day!
I’m just gonna say that I get D’qued.
*Sigh*
Probably the next International Challenge will be better for me :/
Still, Disconections we’re the most used strategie.
That paried with bad plays, haxy strategies and terribly weak minds, keep the Wi-fi tourneys out of play.
We all know that a lot of top players didn’t care about them, and now I see why.
1700 rating, 24W-6L. I got DQ’d. Had a feeling it might happen, since early on every other match was a ragequitter and then I got a few more on the last day.
I guess those C-Gear skins are very valuable…..
824th place. GET ON MY LEVEL
(I didn’t really care, just give me those skins already)
What it felt like running tailwind’d reshiram and kyruem-B:
I got 293rd with 1674. Peaked at about 1737, which would’ve gotten me 132nd, but I’m happy. (My other members were Whimsicott, genesect, terrakion, and mamoswine)
Final rankings are up now as I had 66 wins 17 losses for 177th place with 1712. I really should’ve quit when I was at 1812 before getting unlucky with the pairings the last day I participated. Otherwise it was a fun tourney considering I had a half-prepared team.
Oh yay, I wasn’t disqualified. This means I’ll get my C-Gear skins.
My final record was 84 Wins and 19 Losses, 1803 Rating, finishing joint 62nd with about four other people xD
Glad I ranked so I can get the C-Gear skins.
4th not bad and ahead of joej m by 1!
Went 41-6, 1709 was my final rating good for 183rd overall. Not bad for a quaint little distraction…
I say that because, even though I had a good amount of wins, I felt like my losses were a direct result of me just picking the wrong pokemon and losing the “rock/paper/scissor” coin flip. At least in doubles I feel like it’s not as easy to pick wrong and when you do choose the wrong team members, there’s greater opportunity for other partner pokemon to help pick up the slack. You can still lose (easily) in doubles by picking the wrong 4 at team preview, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like it was magnified even more in this singles format.
Mamoswine was my MVP (EQ/Shard/Spear/Endeavor @Sash) and I used Kyurem-W in just about every battle. Only reason I feel Mamoswine was more valuable was because it was my lead a lot of time and usually got me an early advantage so Kyurem-W could just clean up.
5th place (juniors seniors) right behind drizzle boy :3
dat 29th. Pretty good IMO seeing as I only played 1.5 days xP
Mamo / Gene / Kyurem-W were my MVPs. I’ll start working on a write-up for my team soon!
I got 129th by only using 4 Pokemon from my VGC Team!? I only just threw them in since I didn’t have anything else. I just spammed the Tourney on Monday with about 80 Matches played. XD
Placed 111 in Juniors/Seniors . Better than all my other tourneys.
75th with 1798 >__> my peak was 1880 something on the second night I shoulda just left it! I found the players on the last day were a lot tougher and the ones on the first day super easy anyone find this as well?
As a veteran of wifi tourneys, this almost seems to be a pattern. All the starry-eyed in-game teams come just for fun in the beginning, then trickle out as people keep beating them.
Or think of it this way: the more you lose, the less battling you’re going to do in the tourney.
Pretty sure I finished at 1501
Finished at 1801 with 38 wins and 2 losses and and a ranking of no. 23 in the Seniors/Juniors Division. Did anybody else use Cinccino? That thing is an absolute monster with a life orb. It totally destroys Kyurem W, Thundurus T, Keldeo, Terrakion, and a whole bunch of other things. I also noticed that a lot of the in-game teams tend to come out in the morning (probably to escape the more experienced trainers who are confident enough at maintaining their rating). Unfortunately for them, I’m an early riser.
