After the awesome turnout from last year and the increased interest in the game for Pokémon X and Y, all European National Championships have moved to two day events. Saturday will feature the Swiss rounds through which the top 16 or 32 players (depending on attendance) will be decided upon for day 2 of the competition. On Sunday, the top players will play off in a single elimination bracket to determine the National Champion!

Byes will make a return this year and work just like last season. The top 16 players in the Championship Point rankings going into the tournament will receive a first round bye. Each age division. Though likely just Top 16 or 32 in Masters and Top 8 in Juniors and Seniors each.
So does the South Africans have to compete with all the Europeans in order to get an invite to worlds?
Or does each region have a different way of determining their invites?
South Africa has it’s own invitations.
Another year without nationals in Spain. Thank you Pokemon.
Or maybe it’s because there are no active PTOs in Spain that could be trusted to host a regional
Conspiracy theory I know
It’s not so much as “active PTOs in Spain that could be trusted” or even “active PTOs in Spain” so much that Organized Play does not exist in Spain at all. There’s is literally zero infrastructure for Nationals in Spain the way it exists for Italy, UK, Germany, US, or even South Africa. Maybe they can test a Nationals in Portugal?
Alright, I’m looking at the ticket ordering screen for the German national and they’re asking for a player ID. Does this have to be my IGN or can I just use whatever I want?
A Player ID is number given to you by Play! Pokémon. Read this thread on how to get one: http://nuggetbridge.com/forums/topic/5008-getting-a-player-id/
Thanks! Already got one apparently and that would look something like this: J-999-9999-Q < – – made-up number as I’m not sure posting your real number is a smart thing to do…
You can order a ticket to be pre-entered for Nationals and secure a place? Does this apply to UK Nats?
