Fourth London Pokémon Tournament Announced (Updated)
Gamerbase has announced their fourth tournament situated in their London store (and the eighth Gamerbase tournament overall) set for Saturday, 17th November 2012. Registration will begin at 10:00am and end at 11:15am, with the tournament beginning at 11:30am. The rules will follow the current GBU Double Battle rulings, which are basically the VGC 2012 rules with Black 2 and White 2 additions. Players can still compete using copies of Black or White version, but this obviously may put you at a disadvantage when you cannot see a potential alternative forme Pokémon being used. Prizes include a limited edition Pikachu Nintendo 3DS XL, copies of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 version, Medals, and possibly hmv vouchers.
The format is currently set for single elimination, best of one battle. However, if attendance is not too high, a Swiss bracket will be used instead so everyone will get to play more games! This is an option (and quite a likely one) due to complications resulting in the tournament being announced so close to the scheduled date. Make sure to check the thread in our forum and gamerbase page for further updates and live updates come the day of the event. Hopefully we’ll have some battle videos to show you before the end of the month too!
Update! Swiss Confirmed
Tournament organizers have announced that this tournament will be held in the Swiss + Top Cut format regardless of turnout, allowing every participant to play multiple games of Pokemon in the tournament while the top finishers after Swiss will square off in single elimination to compete for the top prizes.
