Livestream Schedule, Pre-Registration, and Event Distribution for the 2014 Pokémon US National Championships

Livestream

For the first time, The Pokémon Company International will be streaming a National Championship officially with two days of action from the US National Championships in Indianapolis on July 5th and 6th. This means we should see play from the Top 32 and onwards as the open part of the tournament happens on Friday.

Both the video game and trading card game stream will happen on Pokémon’s Twitch channel, last used at the 2013 Pokémon World Championships in Vancouver, BC. This year’s World Championships in Washington, DC will also be streamed on the same channel on August 16th and 17th. There do not currently seem to be plans to stream the Last Chance Qualifier happening the day before.

The stream schedule is as below:

  • Saturday, July 5, noon–5 p.m. EDT: Video Game
  • Saturday, July 5, 5–9 p.m. EDT: Trading Card Game
  • Sunday, July 6, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. EDT: Trading Card Game
  • Sunday, July 6, 2–5 p.m. EDT: Video Game

Like last year, Pokémon is pulling from the fan community to provide insightful and entertaining commentary for the viewers at home and in the live audience.

Please note that with the official stream happening, we will not be running our own stream at either event.

Pre-Registration

If you are confirmed to attend the US National Championships, you can now pre-register on the Pokémon website (TCG registration is here) to speed up the process at the event. Keep in mind that you will still need to check in at the venue in person, but this should speed up the process considerably.

Event Distribution

Much like the National Championships that took place across Europe over the past month, all players who attend the US National Championships as either players or spectators will receive a shiny Mamoswine modeled after the signature Pokémon on Arash Ommati (Mean)’s 2013 World Championship winning team. It will have:

mamoswine
Trait: Thick Fat
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
– Icicle Spear
– Earthquake
– Icicle Crash
– Rock Slide

This is absolutely terrible news. I can’t believe that with all the strides TCPI has taken in the past that they’d still do this to us as a playerbase. I mean, having to see Arash’s shiny Mamoswine on stream at worlds was bad enough. Why would they decide to give it out again?

In all seriousness I’m very excited for the stream. We seemed to get really good times as well.

  2. Drizzleboy says:

Have they chosen who will be commentating at Nationals and Worlds?

  3. bgt says:

I’m glad they aren’t streaming on Friday at all. Makes scouting too easy.

Nope. Nothing has been announced at this time.

  5. Scott says:

I’m glad we shamelessly stole this picture from Pokemon.com because I think it really captured the feeling of last year’s commentary

by that I mean I’m not looking at the camera there either

  6. TKOWL says:

Registration is at 7 PM? bidoof, that’s like three hours later than last year. Looks like it’s an earlier or later dinner then.

  7. Snormax Miltank says:

aha Scott xD Tbh tho, I am so freakin pumped to watch Nats/Worlds

  8. TwiddleDee says:

So glad that there is Pre-Registration, that means the Pre-Nats Football game can go on without having to worry about missing Reg. =D

Can’t wait to see everyone there!

You still need to be there to sign in. Last year there was almost no line at all for pre-registered players.

We’ve known this time for a long time now.

Don’t think of this as “Preregistration”. The Online Registration System is the ONLY way you will be able to Register for either the TCG or the VGC this year.

Players will still have to check in on site before the tournament begins. Unfortunately, they have not stated when that Check In Process will be taking place. It should be similar to the TCG Registration times from last year (i.e. 4-6pm on Thursday, and 7-8 on Friday), but be there early to make sure that you’re Checked In.

If you are not Checked In, you will not be entered into the tournament.

If you do not Register Online, you will not be entered into the tournament.

There will be onsite registration for Nationals from 4-6pm on Thursday. However, if you’re in the Masters TCG division, you will still have to pay online by credit card. They will not be accepting payment on-site.

Of course, TPCi can always choose to change the details on this. But these details have come directly from the person who designed this online registration system, so I’m guessing that they’re good.

    That is not accurate.

VG Masters Check-in is from 7PM – 8PM Thursday night. Due to the potential size of the event (expecting between 600 and 800 players), registering online is the only way to guarantee a spot. T-shirts should be given at this time. Players who registered online will be processed prior to those who register on-site.

There is a “last minute” check in from 7:00AM – 7:30AM on Friday morning (T-shirts not guaranteed here as we may have run out), this time is placed here mostly as a courtesy for players who may have issues with travel the day prior or could not take off work on Thursday and needed to arrive late Thursday night (mainly considering this being the first 3-day event for the VG).

This information is public and has already been released – view here: External

TCG is located here (which is slightly different timing than VG): External
