Manchester Gamerbase Tournament #4 Champion Crowned!

Today saw the United Kingdom’s fourth Manchester Gamerbase tournament take place, drawing trainers from all over the UK to compete for the top prize. 65 trainers in all took part in the Swiss + Top Cut event, with Zog victorious after a close final against Koryo. Many of the UK’s biggest names were in attendance, including VGC ’12 UK Masters National Champion Ben Kyriakou and previous London Gamerbase Tournament #3 Champion IceArceus12.

Two brackets consisting of 32 and 33 players were created, separating the players into Black & White divisions. Only the top eight would advance from each division, while the rest would be eliminated. Pokerob, SeanSymphony, Havak, combustandy, Kyriakou, pokeguru01, Renzokuken, and Shmeeb made it through the first division, and Koryo, Zog, Nathan, Politoed, Blaze Pyro, Aeolian, IceArceus12, and KaGa made it through the second. The top four players earned some nice prizes:

  1. Daniel Nolan (Zog[Nintendo 3DS, Trophy, Medal, £20 voucher]
  2. Christopher Arthur (Koryo) [Nintendo 3DS, Trophy, Medal, £10 voucher]
  3. Robert Kendall (Pokerob[Medal, Black/White video game, £20 voucher]
  4. Sean Towey (SeanSymphony) [Black/White video game, £10 voucher]

The top 16 single elimination bracket can be found here. We’d like to thank everyone who attended, gamerbase for their facilities, Nintendo for their prize support, and all of the staff on hand who volunteered to help out. Without all of this, these tournaments cannot happen, so we can’t thank you enough! Stay tuned to NuggetBridge.com for more coverage of this and other Pokémon video game tournaments to come!
