Nintendo UK Presents the Pokémon Winter Event 2013

Nintendo is looking for the best trainers in the UK to face off in one exciting invite-only event, taking place in London, England on December 7th, 2013. Over the course of November, various StreetPass Communities around the UK have hosted and will be hosting Pokémon Qualifier Tournaments, which are necessary for those who wish to take part in the Grand Finals in London. Only the top three competitors from each of these events will be invited to the finals, so it makes for some stiff competition!

Spectators are welcome as long as they have secured a ticket (more information on how to obtain one below) and there will be side-events taking place all afternoon for those who want to come and enjoy the event but aren’t huge Pokémon fans. There will be a cosplay event with prizes (to be confirmed) for the winners, but the theme must be Pokémon.

Venue & Time

The venue is a secret location in London for now and will only be announced in private to qualified players and StreetPass Group Tournament Organisers. If you qualified for the tournament, you should eventually receive an e-mail with full details on the time, date, and location of the event, along with other information. If you would like to come to the event as a spectator or to enter the cosplay competition, please send an e-mail to the address below and request a ticket.

Rules

Players must bring their own Nintendo 3DS games system and copy of Pokémon X or Y for use in the tournament.

The Rules are set to be announced at a later date, though we can expect Double Battle Rules with Flat Battle implemented. This ensures that you can’t use two Pokémon with the same Pokédex number, nor two of the same held item. The tournament format is yet to be decided, but we expect it to be Single Elimination.
