Nugget Bridge Circuit Season 3 Set to Begin
Big news for everyone who has been awaiting the next season of the Nugget Bridge Circuit! We’re back, bigger, and better than ever! Black and White are behind us and we now enter the age of X and Y. Along with that big change, the Nugget Bridge Circuit Season will have some major changes.
The most important and newsworthy changes:
The end of the season Nugget Bridge Invitational will have more players (32) and new ways to qualify. Now you don’t have to participate in a glut of Live Tournaments in an attempt to qualify. Like the past the Top 16 from the Live Circuit will receive invites, but in addition to that the Top 8 from the Nugget Bridge Major, the Top 2 Coro Coro Cup teams, and the last Invitational Top 2.
The Nugget Bridge Major will now be “separate” from the Live Tournament Circuit. The tournament will no longer award points towards an invite, but will now just give automatic invites to the Invitational as outlined above. Great prizes and tournament play will still play a part in the Major.
The Nugget Bridge Major will now be Swiss plus Top Cut. The Major has a history of some surprising bracket busters causing big names to lose early, and while we lose that moving to Swiss, the tournament becomes more in line with the modern day Video Game Championships.
A new team based tournament that gives invites to the Invitational for the top 2 teams. The rules will be based on the Coro Coro Cup tournament that was run in Japan during the 2013 VGC season.
Tournaments will no longer be seeded. This was a fun experiment for the first 2 seasons, but it was just more hassle than it was worth. It also often tilted the playing field a bit and we saw the same people get paired up over and over. Tournaments will still be in a bracket, but they will now be randomly assigned.
More than one Live Tournament a week. Still a work in progress and a lot of it depends upon the attendance numbers. If people play, we will continue to provide them a place to.
Late night live tournaments. In a bit of an effort to include Australia and North Americans who can’t make the other times we will begin a trial run of late night live tournaments. If we get the numbers, we will continue running these long term.
Circuit Points have been revamped. With the loss of the Major counting for points and more Live Tournaments, the best finish limit will be changed and points themselves will receive a makeover.
While the Standard ruleset for for the VGC ’14 season has not been announced, here on Nugget Bridge will we use Kalos Dex Only in the meantime. Item clause and Species clause all apply to Nugget Bridge Tournaments. The current rules allow for every Kalos Dex Pokemon with the exception of Yveltal, Xerneas, Mewtwo, and Zygarde. These rules are subject to change at any time and once we get the official ruleset from TPCi we will switch over to them.
The schedule right now isn’t 100% set in stone but what you can look forward to this season:
- Live Tournaments every week from now until around US Nationals time. Days will be subject to change at a moments notice due to unforeseen TPCi influences or other important events in the World of Pokemon.
- The Nugget Bridge Major starting in Late-January/Early-February.
- Coro Coro Cup Rules tournament starting in Mid-April.
- Nugget Bridge Invitational Mid-July.

For Dodrio Cup. Do all 3 team members have to battle at the same time?
I would assume not. It would be very difficult to be able to co-ordinate six members to battle at once, especially as they could be across several timezones as it is. I expect each player would arrange with their opponent at a time that suits them.

No, you schedule with your one opponent each round. You can play whenever you want even if your team isn’t around.
Actually, to just clarify on this, how will the individual matches among teams be arranged? Will there be a firm order in which the teams are to adhere to and play the opposite number, or will teams be able to arrange those within them in whatever ‘order’ they play in. I would assume the onus will be on the teams to decide their orders in every round.

How is the no mega tournament tied in with the nugget bridge circuit?
Will there be nugget ridge circuit points rewarded to players on teams who make it far enough in the Dodrio cup like for the major? Or is the the only thing u can earn an invite?

As a side note for people on the bubble or in the top 16 right now, the BFL has not been 100% decided yet but I will have that number shortly I hope. Currently it is about 16 live tournaments, meaning only your 16 best live tournaments will count. As I said this number isn’t set in stone yet but it will be around that number. Major points also need to go in still, they will be minimal however.
It will receive points for a non-standard non-live tournament.
No, the Dodrio cup will award invites only.
If someone already has their invite from the Major but then also finishes in the top 2 in Dodrio Cup to get an invite, how will the invites be passed down? Would you just take the next person in line from the rankings? I’m assuming you won’t just forgo the invite because the Invitational is worked out to be exactly 32 players…..
Added Major points, if you finished 5-3 in Swiss or made Top Cut (except top 8) you got some points.
Just a heads up, I made top cut but didn’t get any points.I was formly TheLegend05. I lost to Sapphire Birch in Top 64.
The fight for top 16 is looking really tight and it looks like many people can still make it. How do you guys determine if there is a tie for the 16th spot?

I thought I made this public but after looking looks like I didn’t, apologies to anyone this affects. The best finish limit for live tournaments is 18 this season. So only your best 18 will count, the sheet will continue to be updated and reflect a higher score until the end of the season where scores will be deleted to reflect the BFL.
I was obviously at Nats this weekend so there was no news on the Invitational, but I will be going through everything to make sure people have gotten the correct amount of points and the invites will be going out hopefully this week. If you feel you are in contention for an invite make sure you check the points you have as well so we can be sure. The more eyes that look at it the better.
I will also try to have LCQ practice tournaments going on during the next few weeks. Best of 3 single elimination live tournaments to prepare people for the Worlds LCQ.
Invites will be sent out tonight or tomorrow morning. Last chance to bug me about anything that looks like it should be changed.
That would be amazing if you guys host tourneys to give us practice for lcqs, lcq is gonna be my first live event so I don’t know what to expect
