55Pokémon 2013 World Championships Website Live
With just a little over two weeks left until the bulk of competitors land in Vancouver for the 2013 Pokémon World Championships, the Pokémon Company International has put up the website for the competition! On it you’ll see the new logo for this year as well as articles straight from the source about the competition. You can also check their website throughout the competition to see how the players representing your nation are doing on a round-by-round basis. It’s one of the two sources you should bookmark to stay as up-to-date as you can during the World Championships. What’s the other? Why, Nugget Bridge of course!
To supplement the official coverage, we’ll be doing up-to-the-minute updates on how players are doing via Twitter. We’ll also hopefully try to get some livestreams going from the venue on our TwitchTV page. We’ll also have people commenting on the action from home on our forums! Our YouTube will also be filled with videos after the competition ends, and of course our site will have articles for you to read with accounts of how the weekend went. Now go out there, grab a bag of popcorn, and prep up for the largest Pokémon event of the year!
Very happy with the artwork. It’s exactly what I was hoping it would be when the location was announced last year and I’m grateful it’s not some terrible stereotypical polar bears and mounties stuff. Great work by TPCi’s marketing department. It’s much better than our Olympic committee did, that’s for sure.
Disappointed it isn’t polar bears and mounties, but this is pretty good too. Beaches we’re getting kind of boring.
i just learned a valuable lesson which is that if i copy rushans news posts and only change the hyperlinks it’ll break the website
I love the color scheme this year. I’m not sure if it’s just the woodlands and natives thing kind of being close to home living on the border of urban/nonurban Michigan, but it’s soothing to me. The site itself seems a little nicer than usual too even though it’s mostly the usual template, good stuff.
i love everything about the theme this year, so excited for this!
agreeing with rushan that this looks better than our olympic theme/mascots/whatever it was. definitely framing a playmat with this art on it, and i have a nice new wallpaper. great job on the site this year
I’m guessing either Braviary or Ursaring will be given away at Worlds this year.
Cool design for this years Worlds site. Time to download a Wallpaper and wish my fellow Europeans luck, I’d join ya if I could but, losses happen, lol.
This art is sick. Yes it does look very Olympic. Love it!
OMG love the artwork!!!
anyway really hope they give away DW zapdos
Im just upset that they included America bird in a logo for vancouver.
Also with a totem theme xatu should be way more prevalent than it is
Emphasis on the American.
I for one wish there were more hockey jokes in this.
xatu is never prevalent enough, not even here
more than anything else i would like to buy a xatu headress like pikachu is wearing
so Duy and I qualified for worlds
I am happy to see that Armaldo is not only represented in the totem poles, but is actually at the top of one. Thank you sincerely, TPCi.
Native American theme…. didn’t see that coming. I wonder if I’ll have a second chance at getting a Tiki Pikachu next year….
Definitely think it’s likely that the event ‘mon will be some sort of DW Pokemon, but idk which. Maybe a random Kanto Bird Legendary?
Good luck to all of you who will compete in August, including those who aim to conquer the LCQ!
Gah! The art is actually amazing! The colour scheme and forestry has a super refreshing kinda feel and it’s nice we get wilderness-nature vibe for once.
Like my fellow Canadians, I’m super relieved they didn’t slap a Beartic, an Abomasnow, a hockey and Mountie together. Braviary, Ursaring and Xatu are actually great choices. Not super sold on Archen and Smeargle. I think seeing a Sawsbuck, Deerling or Shiftry would’ve been cool but nonetheless it’s pretty amazing.
So there’s a totem pole of all Kanto Pokémon, all Johto Pokémon, and all Hoenn Pokémon.
Kanto and Johto have had remakes.
…
HOENN CONFIRMED.
ITT people don’t understand humor (I sincerely hope its humor and people aren’t actually that stupid)
If you’re still not sure, what continent is Canada located on?
I still have nightmares about Armaldo
The giveaway Pokemon is always in the logo.
If we exclude the pokemon that are just totem poles this narrows it down to…
Pikachu
Meowth
Xatu
Conkeldurr
Archen
Braviary
Smeargle
Ursaring
Cubchoo
I’m hoping for Xatu or Ursaring.
Unless I’m missing something here, shouldn’t Randy K. be on that list too?
He’s under CANADA
Where’s the conkeldurr? I can’t seem to fine it no matter how hard I look. I would like to get a conkeldurr event.
Under Ursaring. He’s very small, and mostly obscured by his concrete pillars, which are supporting Ursaring. Judging by how little of a percentage of the image he takes up, I regret to inform you that an Ursaring distribution is very unlikely.
I realize the “bald eagle” is a U.S. symbol, but I also have very memorable experiences of seeing bald eagles while I was on a ferry between Vancouver Island and Vancouver. Canadian wildlife and the Native Amercian influence obviously had everything to do with the choices made.
I do see a notable absence though: Kyogre would’ve definitely fit the stylistic mold of the area.
There’s plenty to do for the less outdoorsy folks, too. Granville Island Public Market features shops and places to eat, a free outdoor water park, and a market devoted exclusively to kids. If you want to stay near the Convention Centre, the Robson Street shopping district is a short walk from the event. Vancouver also has a vibrant Asian community, and the annual Chinatown Festival (which takes place the same weekend) will certainly be entertaining!
My twin brother (who doesn’t have a NB account and who will soon be a Chinese major) is coming with me only for the promise of awesome Vancouver Chinatown, the above news made him squeal.
That pokemon is Donphan
Our Chinatown is practically dead even though it’s the second largest in North America. I didn’t even realize there was a festival. Definitely check out the Night Market in Richmond though (for food).
Really love the art this year, definitely captured Vancouver better than I thought. Also wondering if the Tropical Beach cards will be different, but hoping the card they release, if it is different, will have the same effect.
Also, kindly asking- please do not let a US nationals top 8 incident happen again with the streaming. Make sure both players consent to it on day 1, if not for anything but courtesy. Knock it out of the park day 2 though, hopefully you can catch every match on stream there. It’ll be fun to re-watch them all afterward
Not sure what that has to do with the World’s website but we only streamed on Day 1. Top 8 was on Day 2.
Speaking of which, it looks like they put VGC in the 9am slot for Finals Sunday so we’re almost definitely playing to Top 2 on Saturday. TCG I expect to stop at Top 8 on Saturday.
