Japan Cup 2013 and Japan Nationals Qualifying Method Announced (Updated)

After months of anticipation, the Japanese PGL has finally announced Japan Cup 2013 which will be the qualifying event for Japan’s VGC Nationals tournament. The format will be the usual GBU Double Battles, and like last year’s qualifier it will be a Wi-Fi tournament. Players will be divided into the Junior, Senior, and Master categories. Registration opens at 00:00 JST, April 26th, 2013 and closes at 23:59 JST May 2nd, 2013 while the tournament will begin at 00:00 JST May 3rd, 2013 and end at 23:59 JST, May 6th, 2013. Results will be released on May 9th and the top ranking players from each category will be invited to the Japanese Pokémon National Championship, but we do not yet know exactly how many players will be invited from each category. The tournament will be open to Japanese Black 2 and White 2 games only.

Update

According to the Japanese Global Link, the Top 32 from the Japan Cup in each division will be invited to compete in the Japanese National Championships being held in June.
