2013 International Challenge — June
The final International Challenge of the VGC ’13 season is upon us! With 11th to 13th place in North America tied and the live events in Europe over, there has never been as much at stake as there is now. North American players will be trying to get the lead they need to best secure an invite at the US National Championships while players within 10 points of the Top 32 spot in Europe will try to ensure they keep that elusive invite to the 2013 Pokémon World Championships. Additionally, everyone who participates in at least 5 battles and doesn’t get disqualified for disconnecting will receive 5 Apicot Berries, 5 Petaya Berries, and 5 Ganlon Berries.

Oh my gawd the berries!
This is a perfect opportunity to test out some cool Pokemon(like Wooper)
Omg…I still can’t make it…looks like my season’s over… T_T
so since my birthday is during this event can everyone just give me free wins on june 22nd
in other news wow another one
i thought i was home free until nationals
yes octillery time
So yeah I’m doing squat pretty much every weekend this month except for one. Guess which weekend this is on? fml
Oh wow =/ Especially terrible given that you’re one of the three players tied at 240 CP for 11th – 13th
Oof that sucks hard FonicFrog. I will go hardcore mode for you though! >:]
:O Feathers and I have the same birthday!
^Reminds me of how my birthday is the day before Sapphire Birch’s, who shares his birthday with my dad.
I hope you get a break and be able to compete in this one after all.
I’m sorry to hear that, FonicFrog
DC’ers can get banned from future tourneys now? Or has that always been in effect and I’m just awful at reading/remembering
More like you’re the only one who actually read the article thoroughly. I think TPCi has gone too far–they’re going to ban people who DC using a system that can’t tell who DC’d? They’ll inevitably ban a number of people who didn’t intentionally DC but were DC’d on themselves.
Now if they started banning people in Gen VI where they (hopefully) can tell who DC’d, then I’d be all for it.
Imma enter this for the “Why nots.”, I doubt I’l get anywhere
“Those who do not finish their battles and disconnect to try and save their record may lose their placing on the ladder as well as receive a ban in future WiFi competitions.”
That is rather off-putting to even try and enter, being the victim of an unfair disqualification in the December wi-fi tournament. If I’m unfortunate enough to be paired with a lot of people disconnecting, not only am I now risking the weekend being a waste of time, but potentially damaging my future chances? At least this the is last wi-fi tournament that matters until X & Y are out, so like everyone, let’s hope there’s a better system there.
You should enter with the birthday Togekiss
That and Kecleon again
I’ll be Recon X from California in Seniors Division. Hope I meet some Nuggetbridgers during this tournament!
This should be interesting. Personally I don’t care that much about team scouting (I survived the Skarmbliss script era, Pokecheck videos, and Showdown’s wide open viewing), but I know many people do. This could cause a weird balance of people DCing to avoid battle videos or just refusing to play at all.
As for myself, I *think* I’ll play this one now that my life is slowed down provided I don’t have any Melee tournaments that weekend. Might even play it somewhat seriously and stream it.
“Those who do not finish their battles and disconnect to try and save their record may lose their placing on the ladder as well as receive a ban in future WiFi competitions.”
I was disqualified from the first wifi competition because the majority of my opponents disconnected. Not even sure if I should risk playing for this now in case I run into a string of opponents who will just dc on purpose.
Time to get some berries, will likely be using my UK Nats Team.
Will probably play in this using B’ham team or something similar
That message has definitely always been in there somewhere, not sure why we’re so worried about it now.
Yep, it has been listed in every WiFi tournament since either the 2012 VGCS Winter Battle or 2013 January International Challenge. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
Ok, fair enough. It’ll be a nice little tournament to wind down with I guess.
Still trying to figure out if, from my current amount of CP, if this tournament matters a lot or doesn’t matter at all. I’m leaning towards the latter, but expect my competition anyway.
I remember that part already being in the very first Autumn Friendly ever. It’s nothing but hot air pretty much, so if you wanna play, just play and you should be fine.
Will be in for the hell of it (and continuing my perfect streak of no disqualifications :3), don’t know yet if playing serious or not.
Since I’m down to two teams for nationals and feeling decently okay about both, I’m likely going to do what I did when I won and form a team solely for a more Japanese-heavy meta.
As long as naptime doesn’t mean blue screen time, it should be a swell time. I’ll probably stream this one, twitch.tv/zachvgc is my channel.
I kinda imagine that part of the rules is just for people who are actively trying to sabotage the tournament by maliciously DCing on high rated players or battling themselves on another cart or whatever, rather than people who just wind up with a DC rate that’s a little too high. There’s plenty of people who have 2-3 DQs already so if they were just gonna suspend people for that it’d have happened already.
I’m kinda looking forward to the tournament this time. I always feel like I’m playing a little sharper after these end because of the volume of games I end up playing, so it’s cool for us in NA that this is so close to our Nationals… though it looks like it’s a week and a half until standings are released after the tournament ends this time, which is going to be kinda stressful with this being the last tournament and determining some invites in Europe and the order of players in NA before our last tournament :/
Also people should be cool like Zach and stream because I get bored during the tournament and want to watch something >:|
perfect opportunity to test, participate.
End of the season for me, I no longer give a Grimer.
Either going to race to the bottom or ShadowCats this.
It’s like no one’s read the rules before.
I can’t recall a Wi-Fi tournament where that WASN’T in the rules.
You’re also not supposed to talk poorly about your opponents on the Internet afterwards. Remember, kids, “If a player is found to be behaving in a way not befitting a Pokémon Trainer at any time, he or she may be disqualified from participating in all current and future competitions.”
Quick someone who knows how much CP everyone has, do I need to do good in this tournament?
Kok Scott lookin at you
