203Registration Open for 2015 International Challenge April
Registration is open for the 2015 International Challenge — April! As the first online tournament to give out Championship Points this season, there will be a lot of interest going into this event. The tournament may very well decide the last few spots for the 2015 Pokémon World Championships. Players will play on the Competition ladder on Battle Spot from Friday, April 24, 2015, at 00:00 UTC to Sunday, April 26, 2015, at 23:59 UTC. There is a limit of 10 battles per day for a total of 30 battles in the tournament. The highest ranked players will receive Championship Points as follows in each age division. Championship Points will not be divided by region but instead will be awarded to the top 256 players.
Placement | Championship Points |
1–2 | 12 |
3–4 | 10 |
5–8 | 8 |
9–16 | 6 |
17–32 | 4 |
33–64 | 3 |
65–128 | 2 |
129–256 | 1 |
Registration ends as soon as the tournament begins so be sure to get your entry in on the Global Link now. You don’t need to lock your Battle Box until just before your first match. To register, log in to the Pokémon Global Link and click on the Competitions link on the left hand navigation bar. You must have your Player ID linked to your Pokemon.com account that your game card is associated with before the competition begins to receive Championship Points. Results will be released on May 1st.
Is it worth competing in this competition if CP isn’t your focus? I have a pretty tight schedule at the moment, so breeding and tweaking would be difficult. I may skip out on this one…
Naturally, the one International challenge I feel like competing in, I will be camping in a Gorge in the wilds of North Carolina.
Are you able to do all of your battles on Sunday?
Wow, I expected the CP pool to be higher.
Will this award Play! Points?
yes, the 20 battles/day rolls over.
I already registered. I hope to see everyone else do the same.
Isn’t it only 10 battles this time?
I’m bringing the most dank team I could think of… SubLefties Cress invasion >
sorry it’s probably my bad I haven’t played pokemon in 6 months, the last online comp i played had 20 battles / day x_x
however, the battles still rollover.
How do you sign up? I can not figure this out XD
what? You probably have to play for a 30-0 to earn just 12 CP??
I’ll register later this week, just for practice 😉
I signed up for it and got my participation cancelled. Turns out if you try to lock your battle box before the start of the competition, the following happens:
Anyone who is entering, make sure you don’t get caught out by this! See you in the next competition!
Pokemon gl actually released a notice in this; they will reinstate you soon. Read up on the global link news for more info
They did? Excellent! I was told by their support desk they wouldn’t. In that case the race is back on!

If anyone ever have a bug that does something as serious as unregistering them from a competition in a situation where they shouldn’t have been again, please shoot me a PM about it and explain what happened in as much detail as possible. That stuff needs to get looked into ASAP. I ended up seeing a post about it on r/stunfisk this time, but this is the sort of thing I can help get fixed faster if I get info to pass along. Thanks.
I am so glad to hear this. I was really excited for the International Challenge and my participation got canceled by this bug. Thank you for the information!
Man…I can’t make it for this one…I’ll be camping at Mt. Vernon… D:
Do people know if reg capped yet? I’m trying to enter today and didnt see the competition at the top of the competitions page…
Are you logged in with an ORAS game selected?
Just wondering, in the rules it says:
“Rewards
• The top 256 players in each age division (based on Play! Pokémon parameters) will receive Championship Points”
Where does it say that it points will be awared on a region-by region basis (US & Canada, Latin America, Europe, South Africa, and Asia Pacific)?
It didn’t ask if memory serves me right. I’ll try to check again when I’m back home.
Probably worth noting: http://www.pokemon.com/us/play-pokemon/pokemon-events/pokemon-tournaments/earn-championship-points-vg/
Hopefully I can participate in this one!
What I’ve been wondering for a while now Scott, does that mean that the Japanese players will clog up a good portion of those 256 slots as they can not receive CP, or will the players without IDs be excluded when the standings for the CP payout are calculated?
Either way if we want the CP we have to fight for it and that’s something i’m willing to do after 2 crap regional performances. I will also be streaming my matches. I will be doing 5 matches once it all starts. http://www.twitch.tv/boomguyvgc
My daughter is 8/2, somewhere just below 1600.
Finshed day 1 with a 10-0 record, no one could take down even 1 and a half of my pokémon. ?_?
Hope I keep getting mediocre opponents and clutch those cp, just gotta play on strategic times. oO
I finished 7-3. Lost to Kylee Chua, got mindraped by Sap Sipper Azumarill, and got haxed by a randy.
Closed the night out at 8-2! The last battle was a real nailbiter too. I ended up winning 1-0 in a Suicune mirror match where we were both burned after missing Rock Slide twice in a row and surviving a -2 Ice Beam onto my Lando.
This team, guys.
Played my first game when I got home from work against Flash.
Lost to a nasty 2-turn fully-paralyzed when I couldn’t manage to finish off his 1 or 2 HP Thundurus.
Then I won 9 games in a row wheee 9-1
