2015 International Challenge June

Registration is open for the 2015 International Challenge — June! As the final online tournament to give out Championship Points this season, players within a few points of each other will be trying to get a leg up on each other. The tournament may very well decide the last few spots for the 2015 Pokémon World Championships. Players will play on the Competition ladder on Battle Spot from Friday, June 26, 2015, at 00:00 UTC through Sunday, June 28, 2015, at 23:59 UTC. There is a limit of 10 battles per day for a total of 30 battles in the tournament. The highest ranked players will receive Championship Points as follows in each age division. Championship Points will not be divided by region but instead will be awarded to the top 256 players.

Placement Championship Points
1–2 12
3–4 10
5–8 8
9–16 6
17–32 4
33–64 3
65–128 2
129–256 1

Registration ends as soon as the tournament begins so be sure to get your entry in on the Global Link now. You don’t need to lock your Battle Box until just before your first match. To register, log in to the Pokémon Global Link and click on the Competitions link on the left hand navigation bar. You must have your Player ID linked to your Pokemon.com account that your game card is associated with before the competition begins to receive Championship Points. Results will be released mid-July.

I had no problems during the IC, all my battles appear at PGL, my team was mostly bred by me and identical to that used at Italian Nationals (and team checked there by a judge with no issues). Also, I never disconnected off course.

Yet now I do not appear as a participant to the event (no points awarded, no ranking at all on PGL tournament page). I have already sent a ticket via support system, but any clues as to what may have happened?

This is not a big issue as it would cost me around 1 CP maybe with no chance of doing anything with that anyways, but just wonder why I simply do not appear in the rankings.

    Thanks!

    Results are up.

Not the most impressive showing from the CP region players, to say the least. Curious what happened here — did most of you just not think it was worth it to play seriously?

Are everyone’s results up, including Juniors?  My daughter’s results aren’t showing anywhere, and no participation.  Do I need to send a support ticket?  (It won’t end up making any real difference, but I know she would like to know.)

  3. iMagikarp says:

well I got 40th overall and 6th in the US in only 26 games. I kind of wish this was a week long thing so I could get all my games in.

how does it work with the non CP regions? do they just carve out those players and award points that way? Not that it matters for me this year…but just curious for future years and stuff.

  4. VGC Strategy says:

    Dewgong best Pokémon confirmed!

I was only using the IC to gain a small amount of points in case the bar only crept a little above 368 so I could still have my invite with a top 128 at nationals. Didn’t even play out all of my games because I just wanted the safe points. Apparently some players were taken out of final rankings so kinda wondering what happened there

  6. MSK says:

We were at the German Regional that weekend so only got Friday’s matches done and a couple when we got home late on Sunday. It didn’t matter for either of us CP wise so didn’t make too much effort on Sunday.
So do the Japanese players not get CP from this? Just wondering as my son came 104th overall but looking at rankings can only see 1 European Junior above him that I recognise name of, so he may have got some more CP to add to his tally depending on which of those above him were Juniors/Seniors.
Also when will this CP be added?

Japanese and Korean players should not count towards CP distribution.

I would guess the CP will be added within the next three days, since invites are supposed to be finalized July 13th as per Pokemon.com.

I was taken out of rankings. I finished 18-4 if I remember correctly ~1670, with 3 DCs, that may have been a high enough ratio to get DQ’d, or maybe there was some problem with my Zapdos or Entei that rendered me ineligible? I submitted a ticket so hopefully I’ll find out.

edit: this was also on a cart that I registered a couple days before the event for the purposes of fun and testing 2 teams before nats, maybe that had something to do with it.

  9. Nucleose says:

I came in 90th (14th in US) on my girlfriend’s cart testing a different team, which is way better than my cart. Haha, maybe I should’ve used that team on my cart instead! Hope she enjoys the useless 2 CP

  10. archimom says:

Btw, my daughter showed me how to find the whole list of results on the Global Link page.  So, if you aren’t seeing your results, you can check there to see how you did.

I did send a support ticket even though it doesn’t make any difference (she should get 2 whole points, lol).

Check here for rankings to at least see how you did…

Thanks! I had already checked both pokemon.com and PGL websites. PGL shows the battles I played during the tournament and my registered team, but shows no record or ranking whatsoever. pokemon.com shows nothing at all.

Based on my points during the IC I would have placed at around 110ish of Europe (2 CP). It really does not matter to me at all, but for example a friend of mine has secured his invite to Worlds by obtaining 2 CP at the IC (he got the last place in fact!) and this would have cost him the invite.

  13. MajorBowman says:

I was removed from the rankings for some reason, and I have heard multiple accounts of others experiencing the same thing. The CP doesn’t really matter for me, but it’s still frustrating. Anyone know what’s up?

  14. Hibiki says:

Ranked 89th, but 30th for CP payout. Pretty happy with my 4 CP.

  15. Sanvy says:

33th in the world and second in my country, Italy.
It isn’t bad but I’m a bit mad to myself because I could have done better

  16. Baz Anderson says:

Didn’t really feel it was worth participating. I did plan on doing the games on Sunday, but time passed and I only got 18 games done.

  17. archimom says:

Well, juniors and seniors finally got posted to CP totals.  Apparently they needed to divide the juniors and seniors.  And apparently, there were a *lot* more high ranked seniors than juniors.  My daughter went from 100th in the combined results, to 4th in juniors!!!  I was *not* expecting that!

Strangely enough, even though it shows 1470 participants, her rank shows as 4th of 51.  I’m guessing that means 51 juniors who have opted into rankings, and everyone else wasn’t counted in that total?  (Not sure if Japan or Korea was counted in that, either, since they don’t get CP.)

But again, it doesn’t really matter…she went from 12th to 11th…

  18. MSK says:

Yep my son just got another 8CP for 5th, he was 104th in overall rankings :)
So that’s the season over, see you all in Boston!!! :)

Maybe we’ll meet in Boston! :)

  20. Mr P says:

won this in the junior/senior devision with an 1803 rating and 27-3 record

I know I didn’t cancel early, so I guess that 3 DCs is too many

do you actually need the cp for worlds invite

  23. Hambrick says:

No, but that’s not an excuse for them to (possibly) mess up rankings

  24. AlphaZealot says:

These results are in the system.

    • If you didn’t make the ranking on the PGL there are three reasons
    1. Cancelled participation before the competition ended
    2. Exceeded the disconnection threshold (a bar set well above the average for the whole competition)
    3. Were discovered to have used illegal Pokemon
    • If you made the PGL rankings, but did not make the rankings for Championship Points, the reason is because the account that the Gamesync is attached to did not have a Player ID attached at the time of the competition.

Japanese and Korean players were removed before tabulating the Championship Point rankings for this event.

  25. Cancelling participation before the end of a tournament as a condition for disqualification is surprising to me. While I don’t think it was ever officially stated as something you could do, it seemed like a harmless action and it never caused any negative repercussions in the past. I want to say it would have been nice to add that point as a new explicit condition from making the rankings, but I don’t think I actually reread the rules in detail so I probably wouldn’t have noticed a change. Maybe if it was added in bold or something, someone would notice and forward it on to the rest of the community.

  26. Guess it must have just been my internet alone, then– on the first day I had two disconnects, one of them in team preview and the other in the middle of a game still 3-3, and on the second day I faced six disconnects in a row in team preview. I don’t know exactly what was going on, but a few seconds in on every game (not even long enough for me to write teams down) a quick dc ended it. Ended up ragequitting after that and just enjoying the bonus IP weekend on LoL, so I never ended up checking whether or not those dc’s were wins or losses, but… honestly, times like this really make me wonder why anyone would want to put more CP on the line for online tournaments. DC’s suck.

    It really is weird. Here:

Note: If you quit a competition, you will not be able to sign up again to participate in the same competition. Your ranking in that competition will be determined by the results of any matches you played up to the time you quit the competition.

So it would be really weird if it changed from working like that to dropping you from the rankings. If it does that now then that part of that page should be changed to reflect that.

As PreyingShark pointed out, the rules page clearly says that previously played matches will determine ranking if you cancel participation before the tournament officially ends. As far as I know, no one got screwed out of a worlds invite/trip or anything because of this error, but it could have been a pretty hairy situation if that had happened. If you are going to require players to remain registered in the competition to be included in rankings (which doesn’t really make sense honestly), the rules page needs to be edited.

  29. leftwingzero says:

My rating didn’t go through either. Compared to the rest of you guys, my 21-9 rating seems kinda crappy haha. I had disconnect issues the first day too. I started playing around midnight est. Only one was because of my internet, the first happened near the beginning of a match, the next two were at team preview. I also submitted a ticket, and they just verified that there was no data, and that the last tournament I had credit for was the Little Cup tournament.

I estimated that I got 1620-1630 in the end which would have probably been top 500, but definitely not top 256, so it doesn’t matter too much to me.

BTW, congrats to VGC Strategy for winning the whole competition with a 29-1 record! Your perish team is amazing with that Dewgong, and I’m in the process of watching all your matches on your Youtube channel.

Stand corrected regarding canceling participation per this page.Thank you for checking this information. Will forward the information to customer service so that answers provided do not reference canceling participation.
