2015 International Challenge June

Registration is open for the 2015 International Challenge — June! As the final online tournament to give out Championship Points this season, players within a few points of each other will be trying to get a leg up on each other. The tournament may very well decide the last few spots for the 2015 Pokémon World Championships. Players will play on the Competition ladder on Battle Spot from Friday, June 26, 2015, at 00:00 UTC through Sunday, June 28, 2015, at 23:59 UTC. There is a limit of 10 battles per day for a total of 30 battles in the tournament. The highest ranked players will receive Championship Points as follows in each age division. Championship Points will not be divided by region but instead will be awarded to the top 256 players.

Placement Championship Points
1–2 12
3–4 10
5–8 8
9–16 6
17–32 4
33–64 3
65–128 2
129–256 1

Registration ends as soon as the tournament begins so be sure to get your entry in on the Global Link now. You don’t need to lock your Battle Box until just before your first match. To register, log in to the Pokémon Global Link and click on the Competitions link on the left hand navigation bar. You must have your Player ID linked to your Pokemon.com account that your game card is associated with before the competition begins to receive Championship Points. Results will be released mid-July.

Well being in Bochum for the weekend I only managed to get 10 matches done on Friday before I left and did horrendously bad at 5-5. My son though went 9-1 on Friday and added a couple more wins on Sunday when we got home and finished 11-2 and over 1600 so hopefully some more bonus CP in Juniors ;)

I went 16-6 with a Hail team on Alpha Sapphire and 14-1 with my regionals team on Omega Ruby.

Looking at all the teams in this thread, come on, does literally nobody but me prefer Alpha Sapphire over Omega Ruby???????????????????????????????????????

Its weird isn’t it? My theory is the everyone plays on OR because they have to restart their AS to get more Thundurus.

Finished 22-8 with a score of around 1650. The japanese were very tough to deal with, especially those who carried Liepard and double prankster combinations (with a bit of Perish Song included, too).

Then proceed to fire of discharge with 60% paralysis rate + 20% flinch rate

Just wanted to mention that serene grace does not affect king’s rock’s flinch chance

Went 29-1, ending on 181x I think. Battles will be on my YouTube channel linked below for anyone interested.

A lot of really good and close matches. Worth a watch for anyone interested in some Dewgong action!

Bulbapedia must´ve lied to me then. I know it´s not the most reliable source but they specifically mention it. Do you have a reliable source for this? I tried looking in Smogon’s battle mechanics research thread but it’s not mentioned there.
I also thought king’s rock didn’t stack with flinching moves, but I’m finding conflicting information now.

Might test this when I get home.

It does have a 100% flinch chance with Fling, which is nice.

True, as it was a joke team it doesn’t really matter if it’s a 10% or a 20% chance. When I needed a flinch I would just use fling.

Now that you mention it, I might be getting that confused with how it doesn’t affect moves that already flinch (i.e., king’s rock togekiss’ air slash’s flinch rate is still 60%), but yeah, the information is unclear. I’ll do a bit more digging as well.

That was a really cool team to play against, sorry to have been your only loss of the IC

    shameful 18-12. T_T
It was so tough, for hax: Freeze, flinch and 2 miss in the same battle.
for experience, I used 4 different pokèmon for fight well Kangaskhan but in the entire tour, M-Mom was a problem anyway.
and last for match up, my team is not good against fairy uff.

Waiting for the july tournament, I heard it’ll be a rotation tour with legendary pokemon. It looks cool.

No worries dude, you played well and deserved the win. I knew you were planning something with the Cresselia and thought it was Skill Swap, but the Helping Hand caught me off guard. You played it well and definitely deserved the win!

9-1 on Sunday before stop playing. Too many Japanese with scary teams (all I found literally was Japan Sand or Japan Troll xD) I guess this is around 1620, don’t know. Had a blast though, with close games. Still learning!

I used a VGC14 team with Rotom-W, M-Kang, M-Mawile, Scarf Salamence, Garchomp and Tyranitar. Didn’t have enough time to prepare my new team ^^u

I faced your team on Battle Spot like a day or so before the IC started and boy that team is a real annoying one to face. I love the team though and I’m glad to see you do so well in the IC. Too bad we couldn’t play in the IC. I was impressed you knew about my Lapras though xD haha

  18. EstiloDM says:

It’s kinda sad, but I couldnt get many matches done.

This team is definitely funny and awesome to use, I need to get better at it though: Ending record: 8-1

My only defeat was do me understimating the odds of Swagger Thundurus -who swaggered all my freaking team baring blaziken-

I would post my team but Idk how to post in the format just like the other players
Also Hydreigone, I preffer AS, i have it and thundurus rules even though I lost because of it :v

  19. Hawkeyeone says:

I guess it was pretty cool, but I got placed in the junior division(I’m 15) and there were NO BATTLES. From Friday to Sunday I only played 11 because those were the only ones that were available. 6 wins, 5 loses.

It’s kind of sad, there was some kids who hacked mons in instead of raising their own.

    Here’s what my team was:

    Spoiler

Yeah, this team is yamsing donezo. 0-30 as my final record as literally EVERY TEAM I PLAYED had Own Tempo, Quick Guard, whatever. Thanks for counter-teaming me, everyone! I thought Own Tempo was banned?? Either way, have fun in the wild after I release all six of you.

jk went 9-7 with a real team and stopped playing because i was frustrated and bored
also i like to rehash old jokes lol :^)

  24. JanobiiChan says:

Ended up going 21-9, the same record as the April International. I should have been 22-8, but a day 1 loss due to server issues changed that. In April I used my Linoone flinch support team, this time around I tried a Mega Gardevoir trick room team out. It was very successful, and I learned some important lessons in the losses I had that I can use to make this team even better:

    – In general, I feel that getting a few practice matches on ranked would benefit prior to participating in tournament matches as a warmup. The second day, two of my three losses were in the first three games. The third day, I lost the first three matches before winning the next six in a row before losing the last game because of a crit in the beginning of he match.
    – The Gardevoir/Sylveon combo wasn’t used as much as I would like. Many times I felt that my Dragalge would have done more work under trick room. Especially against opposing fairies that were 2HKO’s with hyper voice where an adaptability and life orb boosted sludge bomb OHKO’s all fairies aside from Mawile obviously.
    – Opposing Amoonguss were the thorn in my side the whole tournament. Need a good counter like Heatran or Rotom Heat with safety goggles, with the later even helping against Breloom.

    2znvby8.jpg

Why not just put Safety Goggles on Chandelure and swith Flamethrower to Overheat?

  25. Gryphon says:

When do they unlock the Battle Box?

If you need it unlocked in your game, go back to Battle Spot and try to participate in the competition again, or select Cancel Participation. The game will recognize that the competition is over, and unlock your Battle Box.

For your Battle Box contents to display publicly on your PGL profile, though, that will happen when they release the results of the competition.

    Results are up.

Not the most impressive showing from the CP region players, to say the least. Curious what happened here — did most of you just not think it was worth it to play seriously?

I couldn’t play it because I was the national event in Singapore where the CP was worth way more.

The big major factor I can think of is the timing of the event since most peoples national event was over or were playing in one like I was. So the CP reward was not worth getting

I don’t know why the Japanese and Koreans was reintroduced into the IC in June.  Perhaps that turned off people from playing the IC?

  28. R Inanimate says:

I ended up doing reasonably well, so I can’t really say much about myself. I think I do remember hearing about a number of people who were mid 1700s or ones that started off “10-0”, but it seems like there was a lot of tilting.

But honestly, it feels like everytime Japanese players are allowed to play in an IC, they take up about 2/3s of the T100 places. And it really baffles me why, as we do have a lot of players who should be able to keep up and break into the ranks, but nothing really changes in that department for one reason or another.

not worth. had to unlock battle box so I could change something for regionals which happened that weekend, too.

the IC only affected like 6 people in Europe CP wise

  30. DonVGC says:

Pretty impressed that my friend Signum from Colombia managed to take the 7th place. I wish pairings were more accurate and less random though, for example when I was around 1650 I still kept playing people around 1300-1400 :/
