Venue
TV21
10 Thomas Street, Northern Quarter
M4 1DH
Manchester, United Kingdom
It is at the request of the venue that you do not bring your own food or drink inside and please do not leave any rubbish behind. If you’re found guilty of any of that, you will probably be asked to leave and thus be disqualified from the tournament. The venue does nice food which you can order to be brought downstairs to the tournament room at any time, however, there will be a lunch break where you’re able to go and get food upstairs or outside – as long as you eat it outside of the venue. Every participant will receive a free drinks voucher upon entering, which covers a spend up to around £4 and does include alcohol for those of you with photographic proof of age. Thank you for understanding.
im going to it and hopefully will win it
I’m hoping to be going. Things are getting a bit busy and a bit serious for me at the moment, and I only really want to make the journey (because it is quite a way for me) if I think I have a good team. I probably will make it, it’d be nice to see everyone again, but I’ll know for sure closer to the time I guess.
Going to try and make it, if work permits
Forgot to mention as well, this tournament is expected to be in Swiss format. This should hopefully even out the playing field and I’m glad they’re thinking of including it. Let’s hope there’s no delays like Birmingham’s Regionals last year!
I’m hoping to come to this one, be a long drive up from Kent but after missing out on the Winter tournament from not having a team ready I’m all set to go now.
And Swiss will be so much better than straight knock out
I might be there Hopefully
I’ll be there, train tickets will be bought soon. Will be fun seeing everyone again!
Additional information has been added to the Facebook event page. This covers the schedule and has also confirmed the use of Swiss format.
Nugget Bridge, StreetPass Manchester, and Nintendo UK are confirmed to be hosting the event as well so we can expect the tournament to be as well hosted as the Winter Event prior.
Will definitely be attending this, sounds like a fun day out and who knows, without a stupid Lanturn in my team I may do better than last year!
Couldn’t scrounge up any of my usual nats friends so I’ll be coming to this completely alone! Hope to get to know a bunch of UK players
I’ll be attending with the usual posse. Looking forward to meeting everyone again
The reigning Manchester champion will be hopping down. Hopefully I can be the first to retain the title
Seeing as I live near Manchester and go to uni there, I’ve got no excuses really. Promise I won’t get too drunk this time…
I’m hoping to make it down to this! After a lackluster performance at the winter tour, I am coming for the number 1 spot
I’ll be there as long as I manage my budget for properly
Confirmed to be there. Exited to see everyone again.
It’s me running this again guys, if you didn’t already know
The only hold-up from a new article on this website now is confirmation of what the prizes are. As soon as I hear back from Nintendo, it’ll be announced. I haven’t really even advertised it yet though and we already have a potential 100+ guests, so t’s looking like a busy day especially when it goes even more public…
Hoping to be able to come up, but will have to see nearer the time Will be good to catch up with you guys again
Totally gonna go! Willing to meet up with members! #Muffin2win
the king will reign supreme once again
Thanks for the confidence, cause we know I was the King at Manchester #5 haha.
Anyway, I’ll be writing a little bit for what I think will happen, ie players to watch and who I think has a good chance to win. Watch this space
and me
no i don’t think so
Seriously this year I’ve got a good feeling. I’ve made an awesome team and have won 92% of all battles on showdown!
Also you used the wrong number – poor sentence structure is in place.
What you said was – “Muffin for win” which is poor grammar
Something better could be “Muffin for the Win” OR “Muffin too win”
So what you should have said was #Muffin2Win or #Woopah2Win
well i just went on a 7 game unbeaten run so foodking2win for sure
[Just remember these are my own opinions and shouldn’t be taken to heart]
Manchester #6 is the follow up from last years event where I pipped Dozz in the final to win the 5th annual event.
This years event sees the return of the swiss format and a topcut of 8 players. VGC14 has already proven that some players can come out of nowhere and pull out a win which could very well happen in this event too, so here is a list of some players I think should be looked at as possible underdog winners.
(Aedon Solomon) AudaciousAedz – Now I would say that not many people know him but this year he has gone about playing the game quietly, being no.1 in the UK in the Battle Spot rated battle for quite a bit now. I played him in last years VGC in Birmingham and I was impressed in his level of skill when I hadn’t heard of him before the event itself. If you want to put money on a dark horse to win the event then this is a good one.
(Sam Bentham) SuperIntegration – If you are looking for the most improved UK player over the last year then I introduce Sam to you. He has one one of the live NuggetBridge tournaments and has had an impressive season so far. Just lately he has not really been making any noise but that could be a bad thing for people who have to face him at the event. He is really smart when it comes to setting up his team and this years format makes for Sam to finally push for placing high at some events this year. I would ectually put my money on Sam taking this one home because it’s about time he won a live event.
(Jason Finch) Die2Distroy – Jason so far this season is probably one of the most consistant players in the UK, although he hasn’t taken part in any NuggeBridge torunaments for X and Y that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the skill to win one. I personally know he has the skill needed to win one and the fact he got 2nd place at the Manchester qualifier for the Nintendo Winter Tournament says that he can back it up. He has kept himself off the radar of players in the UK and he should have what it takes to get into the top cut at least at this event.
(Andrew Fairbrother) Combustandy – What kind of brother would I be to keep my own brother out of this. 2 years ago he made the top 8 in the event losing to Koryo in a close fought game, since then he has improved in his skill level. He hasn’t really made much impact in a tournament yet and his performance in the 2013 UK nationals was lack luster, what better way to show he has improved then to win this event. Although I would say his odds are pretty low of winning the whole thing, the same could have been said about me last year….this is truly a tournament where people can come out of nowhere to win something.
All in all I would say there are 2 outright favourites for this event if they turn up; Daniel Nolan (Zog) and Barry Anderson (Baz Anderson). Both are among not only the best in the UK but the entire of Europe and you shouldn’t write either of them off at any rate. I wouldn’t mind a Baz vs Zog final if any of the above don’t win……or me of course, we can’t forget me cause I want to defend my title xD
i know these are your own opions but you fail to mention me the foodking who won london 4 and came top 4 in manchester 5 the last two big tournments in these series of tournments my reign as the king will be much greater once i take your crown no offence to you and your skill at all though rich
I was no. 1 in the UK battle spot ratings for like 2 months.
Go on FoodKing!!!
Actually I need to make some predictions like Nidorich did.
Toquill – The London winner and host of #Toquillnaments
Foodking2Win – Mighty
woopahking123 – He’s pretty cool
Nidorich – The reigning champ
Combustandy – the reigning champ’s brother
Zog – 3rd in London and wrote a team report, also External
Baz – 9th in the world
Kiriakou – Uk Nats champ so I guess he’s good
SuperIntegration – He’s good apparently
Anyone I’ve missed I really can’t be bothered to list everyone.
