NPA Draft: It’s finally here
It seems like so long ago since the last NPA that was held a few years back, but we’re finally here going head first into the season of this great tournament. We’ve just concluded the player sign ups with a whopping 220 sign ups (All of which can be found here, and now we have the draft that everyone’s been waiting for.
72 total players will be picked to play on one of the 12 teams we have this season. The managers are already hard at work planning out their draft by arranging draft pick trades with other managers to try and snag who they want as quickly as possible. The draft will occur this Sunday the 25th at 6 pm PDT. There will be a stream of the draft with commentary and even interviews with managers of the teams on the Nugget Bridge Twitch. #npa on IRC will be the place to catch comments and notices for when the everything is going.
If you don’t get to be one of the 72 drafted players, do not fret! There will be a free agents list that will be open all season, along with a minor league for players to showcase their skills in weekly battles. Details for the minor league are being worked on, so stay tuned to the tournaments forum for more info!
Week 1 will start on the 27th to give managers and teams a prep day right after the draft. Get ready because an epic season is about to begin!

This is probably the best thing I have read all day. Now I’m really looking forward to the draft! And at the very least, those 148 players who don’t get picked all have a second chance with the minor league!
However, just one tiny mistake with the spreadsheet… I’m in Hawaiian time, not EDT/EST.
Same here, I’m in PST/PDT not EST/EDT.
ffffff google docs didn’t sort the timezones when I added a new player and it shifted all the cells, fixing……………. somehow………….

The turnout here is absolutely unbelievable. Not sure how the first NPA numbers looked, but I’m sure it was nowhere close to this.
This is really cool! I also love the fact it’s being streamed even though I will be unavailable at that time. I’ll just have to see how it’s going once I get back

For perspective, the original NPA had 131 signups with 48 open spots (8 teams of 6).

Hopefully I’m picked for one of your teams, I’m willing to contribute and fit in and bring it all home, all I can guarantee is that I shall do my best for the Team I am chosen to be with, I might even learn a thing or 2 from this, lol.
I think with the amount of quality players it’s going to be hard to tell who will be chosen to play. At any rate this series is going to be amazing and looking at the draft will be cool too

So for those of us who didn’t sign up before the deadline, do we just enter the free agent pool along with all the people who don’t get drafted? I’m curious how this thing will play out with the minor leagues and such.
