There is a limit of 10 battles per day for a total of 30 battles in the tournament. The highest ranked players will receive Championship Points as follows in each age division. Championship Points will not be divided by region but instead will be awarded to the top 256 players.

3–4 10
5–8 8

To register, log in to the Pokémon Global Link and click on the Competitions link on the left hand navigation bar. You must have your Player ID linked to your Pokemon.com account that your game card is associated with before the competition begins to receive Championship Points. Done my day 2 matches. Currently level pegging with 10-10. Fortunately all my losses have been very near, so it’s been a good learning experience.

  2. StarKO says:

    16-4 after day two

    losing on time when you’re going to win the next turn sucks ;-;

  3. Tmac says:

9-5 currently. Crits were not reworked in a way that actually fixes what was “wrong” with them. Why even have stat drops if crits negate them and do absurd amounts of damage? 3 of my losses were because -2 Pokemon crit and dealt stupid amounts of damage. “Nerfing” them to 150% doesn’t even address the real issue, and shows that Nintendo either has no idea what they are doing or simply don’t care about making this game remotely competitive. What’s the point of Snarl if everything is just going to crit through the SpDef drops anyway? What’s the point of switching in with an Intimidate if they’re going to just crit through their Close Combat and OHKO the Pokemon you were trying to protect? I’m perfectly aware that there are situations where you can outplay your opponent and plan ahead for bad luck, but there are some blatantly unnecessary balance decisions that throw a coin toss in situations that would have otherwise been a relatively solid game. I’m not complaining about luck in general, just some of the more ridiculous luck factors that can throw a match that should have been over.

    – Crits should NOT go through stat drops. Enemy stat boosts? Sure, I guess that’s the point of them bypassing stat changes, but stat drops can be switched out of. What’s the point of lowering stats for insurance if at any time the game can decide the attack is going to do 90% instead of 40%?

    – Rock Slide should NOT have 30% flinch rate. 10% is perfectly reasonable, and a spread move that has such a ridiculous chance to flinch at least one opposing Pokemon is the reason we see so many newer players using Landorus-T and just mashing the Rock Slide button even when there is likely a better option. They’re not doing it for the chip damage, they’re doing it because they recognize the incredible odds in their favor.

    – Freezes… eh. I doubt they’d just get rid of them completely, but I’ve definitely won some matches I shouldn’t have because something got frozen out of the blue when I was going for chip damage. Something like a -2 speed drop or something along those lines would be far more reasonable, or even just a chance not to attack.

    – Swagger is an obnoxious attack and I would love to see it reduced to 80% or lower accuracy, but I don’t even think this is as bad because you can switch out of confusion and if your opponent gets too adventurous it can completely go in your favor and net you a +2 attack boost.

tl;dr: I might as well stop playing in the IC because of my abysmal record, since apparently I’m a crit magnet and rely too much on Arcanine. Consequentially, I made this rage post about excessive luck factors, but I will likely get blasted for “whining about luck being a factor” when I’m really just frustrated with some of the specific attacks/mechanics where there is a significant chance that the game is going to just decide who is going to win and there’s little you can do about it. Let’s be real here, there’s only so much probability management you can do. Anyway, I edited my original post because it had enough salt to put the Dead Sea to shame, and I don’t want this entire post to be invalidated by my temporary frustration.

Currently 16-4, doing better than I expected. Mega Venu is an annoying match-up, contributing to 2 of my 3 losses on Day 2. Ferrothorn has been super clutch in most of my matches, and I really enjoy it as a win condition.

  5. GeMiNi says:

To all my opponents who keep flinching me, a big fat middle finger to you. The amount of flinches they’ve gotten is ridiculous. Really discouraging me from playing any more.

  6. Azuran says:

I made it to 1600 only to have a Mantine of all things unceremoniously dump me back down the ladder on the next battle. Nothing to do but laugh. That thing is bulkier than I thought. Taking a Draco Meteor to the face and living to tell about it.

  8. Dan88 says:

12-6 and two opponent DC’s still unaccounted for. I can’t play any more games and it’s showing me as played 18.
Had trouble landing attacks today, especially annoying when your 90% accuracy moves miss 3 turns in a row but your opponents have no problem landing focus blasts, hydro pumps and hypnosis though *sighs*

  9. 13 / 7 and hyping up for the last ten. I’m pretty happy with my team, with the exception of Milotic, who isn’t doing much of anything (brought to two battles, only did anything once).

    My numerous losses include:
–Dragon Pulse Goodra critting, KO’ing my Venusaur.
–Scarfed Psyshock Sylveon critting, KO’ing my Venusaur.
–A surprise loss to a well-bluffed, not-actually-scarf-but-actually-AV Landorus-Therian, with a surprise turnaround EQ to close the game.
–A surprise loss to SafeSwag Meowstic alongside Tailwind Talonflame and Mega Gallade– rip team.
–A well-played Amoonguss / Kangaskhan / Heatran core, with some bad luck on the sleep turns.
–A surprise DC in the face of Fire Punch Dragonite and Swords Dance Gliscor– probably would have been a free win.
–A loss to a well-played Trick Room Mega Gardevoir alongside Heatran, Landorus-Therian, and Thundurus-Incarnate– I don’t see how I could have won that.

Just a tad salty, hoping that I can close out the last leg well.

Good luck and have fun to everyone going into day three! :)

  10. ColoKing says:

9-2 so far, just won my first battle of day 2 after being down 4-2 turn 3, came back and sealed it with my Roserade knocking out a Suicune and a Landorus.

Pretty sure I saw that on stream, pretty sure that trainer name was MSakney, and if so, it was being used by an incredibly well known, good player.

As for me, I haven’t started yet. Plan to tonight. Hopefully I can avoid the hax that apparently everyone is getting.

  12. glitchplight says:

Something I really wish the pokemon company would do is either let us battle more people in the case of opponents DCing, or let us take the win. My patience with these people is waning by the second and I know they do it on purpose to screw us over since we can’t make up those battles.

  13. IceyGamer says:

Day 2 is giving me really exciting battles with a lot of bad hax against me.

I’ve had two DCs so far, and they’ve both been counted as wins for me. Something isn’t right if that’s not happening.

Really? Huh…according to my own experiences and those people earlier in this thread had it isn’t just me that is isn’t getting wins for the DCs. Are you getting DCs in the middle of the battle or after the battle is over with?

  16. IntensifyVGC says:

I had an opponent DC Turn Two after he got Hypnosis’d with his Garchomp and Spored with his Dedenne.  Needless to say, Wide Lens Gengar + Breloom lead op?  It counted as a win for me.  I was worried it was my end, too.

  17. Well, I’m actually doing better than I thought, thanks in part to Gentlefish’s advice and a good dose of St. John’s wort every day. Out of 20 matches, I have a record of 14-6. I did have a few wins by my opponent’s forfeiting too soon or because my opponent got DC’d, though.

  18. glitchplight says:

Ah I guess there are some people with luck getting the DCs counted as wins! That is really nice and I hope that rubs off on me once I finish up my games tonight.

    Found satan.

  20. mattj says:

It took a bit for them to show up, but all of the DCs against my daughter have eventually counted as wins for her.

  21. Tyrfing says:

4-1. Was only able to play 5 games so far.
However I forgot to teach Solar Beam to my Charizard-Y so now it knows Smokescreen which I refuse to use.

Lost that one match because of two stupid missplays on my side. I realized the missplay as soon as I chose my attacks.
Everything else went perfect, there was only one situation where I had to use Solar Beam and I managed to KO that Rotom with Overheat as it was already on low HP.

  22. Sans19 says:

I’ve been lurking around here for a while, but a few posts in this thread prompted me to reply so some people don’t get too worried.

I’ve had 2 people d/c against me so far. One was before turn 1 even finished, so I’m pretty sure it was an accident. I was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to make up the match because it didn’t count as a win or a loss for me, but on day 2, I was able to participate in 11 matches to make up for the d/c on day 1.

The 2nd d/c was after someone ragequit when I managed to pick apart their perish trap team after losing my 2 leads to it. It registered as a win for me after i played my next match.

I’m thinking that maybe they have a way to distinguish an actual d/c from someone purposefully doing now, but it’s probably more likely that it’s based on how many turns have played out.

Oh yeah, and I somehow managed to finish 14-6 on day 2, even with all the hax floating around lately.

  23. Missed connection:

You were there with your hail room team. I was eating Blizzspam right and left. I switched my zapdos in knowing hydreigon was my only chance to beat cress. Your camerupt missed a heat wave against zapdos and I paralyzed your cress.

It was that moment, when I got the double protect with metagross to stall out the last turn of trick room <3

    If you’re reading this, I’m sorry…

  24. Azuran says:

6-4 on the second day and 13-7 in total.

3 of my losses today came from complete cheese teams. I don’t mind losing to them every once in a while, but getting 3 Smeargles in row without knowing what they’re moves and items they’re running is just a complete mood killer.

Oh well, the other 7 matches were great thought. I didn’t jot down names, but I know I ran into some people from here which was awesome.

  25. MrEobo says:

    9-1 to 15-5.
    I hate this game.

  26. glitchplight says:

Came back to report that yeah, after the DC’s I’ve experienced earlier today they fixed my score so that the DCs counted as wins for me!

  27. Wondering what the DC algorithm is on my end– all the DCs against me have counted as wins, and the one time Comcast stabbed me in the back I took a loss. All of mine were instantly registered, too, as opposed to the delays most other players seem to be getting. Interesting.

  28. Juses says:

I was 9-1 when my connection decided that it didn’t want to be stable anymore. I DC’d once during team preview and another time when I was looking for an opponent. So I should be 9-2 right now, around 1600.

I had some nice matches, but the pairing system kept pairing me up with low rated players(like 14xx to 1520 at most ), which really hurt my rating. Some were good with well-built teams (at least) and I’m glad I got to play them.

I’ll try to play later tonight and tomorrow if I can I guess…

  29. Brandon says:

Went from 10-0 to 13-3. Too many distractions followed by a two-game tilt. Did 3 more to make myself feel better. No more till tomorrow. :)

  30. Benster says:

8-2 on day one, 7-3 day two for a total of 15-5 so far.

Illimuse clearly has 100% evasion, as one I went up against avoided two Heat Waves and a Rock Slide.
